MSN, baked into edge & win 11 which i have to use at work…

i was reading some garbage click thru article about god-only-knows… one of those slideshow carousel type of “articles” on MSN that allows them to inflate the number of clicks by 10x. i think the article headline was about a judicial complaint that took 8 slides to reveal it wasn’t anything.

anyway, i get to the “end” and inadvertently click the next button… which takes me to the linked “article”.

what the fuck even is this shit? its like a completely made up story with GenAI photos and the comments is already populating with people accepting it at face value.

the news ecosystem is remarkably worse than i had assumed.

Glad to see I’m not the only one to have ever fell for that shit! A long time ago I got clickbaited by an article about a rare bug in someone’s garden and it took like 20 slides to tell a completely absurd story about involving local authorities and shit without telling or showing anything about the actual bug. It ended with a “this story is a work of fiction” and that’s when I decided to never click on a web browser article link again
