Casting Henry Cavill as the Witcher was a mistake because it fooled us into thinking they cared.

I love to see Henry Cavill as Geralt and he’s an absolutely incredible actor… but there are some scenes where you can tell he’s straining to speak in that deep voice. Especially when he’s mad and shouting; it sounds like a kid trying to be taken seriously by speaking in a lower voice.

He didn’t really have the deep voice for the character he was trying to portray, and when I hear him strain to maintain that voice in some scenes, it takes me out of the show.

Then he took himself out of the show and I’ve stopped caring about it altogether. 😆

I’m getting used to it now, but Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I read the original comic series before the film came out and Scott was this rambunctious lovable idiot who was quick to jump into action and get himself in trouble, but he was skilled enough to fight his way out of it every time.

Michael Cera is a very timid, meek, soft-spoken actor who gives kitten vibes, even when he’s angry. He turned Scott from this confidently dumb loudmouthed fighter into a shy, passive guy who surprises everybody with some serious fighting skills.

Scott is well-known in the comic for being one of the best fighters in the Toronto area. In the movie, everyone is surprised when he’s suddenly able to hold his own against the Evil Ex’s.

I would’ve loved to see a Scott who fit the original comic character a little better, but Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is one of my favorite movies and I’ve watched it so many times, I’m actually getting used to Michael Cera. Still, it’s a bit jarring when I go back to read the comics.

As someone who only saw the movie, he seemed perfect to me. It’s interesting to hear how different the comic was.

I also think he fits the role really well. In the comics he might be more loudmouthed and maybe more confident, but the surprise that he can actually fight was still the same imo.

Anthony Mackie as Takeshi Kovacs in season two of Altered Carbon. Way too much of a boy scout vibe. Ruined the second season, after a great first season, and doomed the show.

And particularly jarring when so many people had convincingly played Takeshi Kovacs in the first season.

Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. Peter is too handsome. It really bothered me in the early seasons. He was great as Tyrion, in the end, since the whole series ended in ruin.

I did appreciate Cersei’s comment about Tyrion’s facial injury being over exaggerated after the Battle of Blackwater. It was a nice lampshade when the books described it as a horrible disfigurement to his nose when that would have been an expensive special effect to last the rest of the series.

I highly doubt that the expensive prosthetics were the problem. They were just too scared to put someone on tv that is a main character and not fuckable.

Tbf, you could also say this for many of the actors in that show based on George’s descriptions of them from the books.

I feel the same about Gwendoline playing Brienne. She’s much too pretty, although she did great in the role.

Both of MacFarlane’s girlfriends (Alara and then Charly) in The Orville. Neither could act all that well at all (a complaint not limited to the two of them in that show), and neither sold the characters they were cast as either.

Bella Ramsey was fine in Season 1 of The Last Of Us. Now season 2, I don’t know if it was the writing or Bella Ramsey stopped giving a shit but season 2 was unwatchable for me. I’ve never seen the quality of a character drop off a cliff like that.

Both the commander and captain in Babylon 5. In emotional scenes it always felt like the other actors were doing the heavy lifting

Steven Strait as Jim Holden is about the flattest character you could have casted to be a MAIN character. I guess in hindsight also Cas Anvar (Kamal) who forced an abrupt death of his character, but i guess they didn’t know yet how much of an asshole the guy was IRL.

Sean Maguire as Robin Hood in OUAT, he did such an awful job, easily the worst Robin Hood. The show also has the worst Captain Hook, but that was because of the writing and not the acting
