  • Taco Bell has already automated the drive though orders at a number of locations. The staff still have to listen to the conversation to make sure the AI agent doesn't go off the rails. I bet they've got some fun stories

  • I've got a bunch of pint glasses from local breweries, and they hold up just fine to the dishwasher. Nice thing is if I DO break one, it's an excuse to go back to the brewery and get another.

  • I thought for sure that I wasn't going to be able to use Citrix Workplace with the Cisco WebEx VDI plug-in to connect to work and take meetings, but I loaded up an Ubuntu distro box and it's worked a treat after a reasonable amount of research and fiddling.

Very happy with my Bazzite experience so far.

  • Right? I don't think this meme means what you want it to meme

  • Definitely use a safety when present, but some guns intended for everyday carry do not have traditional safety switches. They rely on trigger and/or grip safeties to reduce the chance of negligent discharge.

Don't be discouraged if you look for a safety and can't find it. Just obey the other rules of firearm safety to minimize (because you'll never truly eliminate) the risk of injury.

  • An insurance organization operated for the benefit of the insured gives value. An insurance organization run for the benefit of investors gives the barest minimum (or less) to the insured and takes lives in the name of profits.

  • I let my Prime expire three days ago, yet they still upgraded me last night. I've already downgraded. We'll see if it continues to badger me to upgrade like it has the past couple months.

  • I've been dog sitting for my parents lately and I feel bad for their old lab. She is so snuggle deprived that she wedged herself precariously between my girlfriend and me on my loveseat and just stayed with her head buried in the cushions and back legs on the floor for thirty minutes.

My parents love their dogs, but they don't let them on the furniture and they are too old to get down on the floor and snuggle with them.

  • I don't think the "don't change horse mid-stream" argument would help much with Trump. Pretty sure only his base believes he has a spine enough to lead through a significant conflict.

  • You're right to hesitate. I've seen it in older novels (70s and 80s) as a euphemism for sex or a woman's genitalia (woman -> cunt -> cunny).

  • It's not DNS

    There's no way it's DNS

    It was DNS

  • I dunno... Anyone else?

  • Former NC Governor Roy Cooper is running for Thillis' seat. He was pretty well respected for getting us through Covid and being a reasonable voice against a hostile state legislature. I hope his popularity and general public sentiment against this administration are enough to win the seat

  • ...Him?

  • A shot every couple hours? I'm getting dehydrated just reading that

  • For me, the value add of Plex is their maintenance and support of the apps on various platforms and the authentication and connection management. I do have my server port forwarded, so there's no reason for them to handle my media streams. Being able to tell a new user that all they need to do is download an app from a trusted app repository and create a free account so I can invite them to my libraries is a super simple experience for most skill levels and well worth the $60 or so I spent on a lifetime Plex pass over a decade ago.

I get that there are use cases where it makes more sense to go with a completely free solution like JellyFin, but many critics of Plex act like ALL they are doing is serving user-supplied media on a web server, and that's a gross misrepresentation of their offering.

I don't love the IPTV stuff that they do, but it's not that difficult to tweak the current app so that only my libraries are shown. Compared to an experience like my smart TV which is shoving ads down my throat and adding steps to get to the apps I want, it's an experience I can live with if it keeps Plex in the black.
