Oh no. I either missed that or had forgotten about it.
I hope the allegations aren’t true, but reading about them they certainly seem plausible. I really don’t know.

I expected this would probably happen, so I’m not hugely disappointed, but still bummed.
Season one was alright and season two was an improvement, but it never really made a big splash.
I appreciate giving shows that have promise a second season and second chance. It’s much better than just cancelling after one season.
So long “English Teacher”, you can join “How I Met Your Father”, and “Adults” will join the club next year.
They, I think as the US Agriculture guy, did say it wasn’t an alien invasion. I guess technically they might not know that, but to me that was a clear indicator that there isn’t a ruling outside force.
Also while they are doing whatever they are told, it’s just some light babysitting from their perspective. There are 12 (?) people worldwide who aren’t part of the hive, we met the half that can speak English. Each of them has a chaperone and that one guy has a small harem. The other 99.9% of Earth is doing… Something. We’ve seen them cleaning up. They know how many months away they are from improving the infection rate (based on the guess of all the best scientists in the world).
So what do “they” want?
Something to consider is that they did say “Your life is your own” and Pirate Lady refused to choose between Carol and Air Force One man. Hurting someone emotionally isn’t something they want to do willingly. So unless they’re lying I don’t think they’ll force joining the hive mind on anyone.
Similarly when they saw they were causing Carol distress they acknowledged it backed away from the interaction.
Forcing Carol to drink water would have been distressing for Carol, so they could also be why they didn’t force her to drink.
HOWEVER we saw during the initial infection that people were activated and joined more or less one by one. But as we saw when the countdown reached zero, the majority of the world was held back from activation and instead activated all at once. We also know the global activation was rushed as the military was catching on.
Now they may not have known the activation process would kill some people, but they must have known a global seizure would cause some number of deaths and harm.
So they have a sense of self preservation and that sense does allow them to cause harm.

That’s fair. Maybe even story wise that’s a great story, but I agree I don’t think I want to know. But I’m not looking to call out the stories I don’t find amazing.
It’s fiction. As you described it, it may, horrible as it is, be based on truth. I don’t know and I don’t want to know.
I’m not here to champion all of his work. I just know that he’s written some excellent stories and I choose to believe those stories are fictional.

It’s eye surgery that gets me. I don’t think The Pitt has that (but it might), but I know several medical shows do. Everything else is just “meat” and I can handle it but eye stuff is always too much.
(And The Pitt birth scene is also a shock, but mostly just because so many shows handwaved it. If I remember correctly the Seth Rogan film Knocked Up also gives you a visual. But in X years of film and TV that’s it.)

Sure, but just by mentioning his name he’s probably pissed off. He’s written some AMAZING stories, but he’s grumpy at everything.

Those “graphic medical imagery” scenes, including the depiction of a birth in Episode 11, “are integral to the show’s portrayal of the raw emotional toll that such work has on those who commit their lives to the medical profession,” the cabler said.
That answers my first question after reading this headline. I’ve watched a lot of medical shows over the years and I was surprised by this one. I applaud the decision to air The Pitt as is.

I’ve been rewatching Stranger Things with my girlfriend who hasn’t seen the show. When we got to that episode she was so confused and calling out how much she hated some of the newly introduced characters.
She was so relieved when I said not to worry, we’ll never see them again.

I disagree about awful. They’ve delivered two mediocre seasons so far. Which is to say some storylines have been awful, but some storylines have been great.
I really enjoyed the Celebrimbor storyline last season for example.

I’m not particularly interested in watching a 40 minute video at the moment, but does this touch on streaming and the flexibility of being able to watch TV at anytime?
Historically you can look at Game of Thrones, people had watch parties and tuned in every Sunday to watch the new episodes. So this kind of “must see TV” still exists.
Similarly being able to watch any anytime means you may actually get more people watching. Look at season 4 of Stranger Things. The popularity of “Running up that Hill” brought a song from the 80s back to the Billboard hits.
Has watching TV changed, yes, is it dead? Far from it.

I just finished the first two episodes and before reading this article tried to think about what story this show is trying to tell, and I think the answer is, “what does it mean to be happy?”
Reading the article, sure enough, the author and I agree,
Pluribus is likely to get you thinking about, among other things, happiness (and the value of unhappiness)
The first episode is all about setting up the premise with hints of that overall theme, but the second episode really digs into it. The author of this article has seen 7 of 9 episodes, so it sounds like that’s going to remain consistent. They mentioned other things too, but I do think it comes back to that core concept.
Right now, two episodes in, it feels like a miniseries. Maybe a film turned into a miniseries. Not in a bad way where it’s stretched out, I think there is a lot to explore with this concept. But it is more of a concept.
In any case I’ll definitely be watching the whole season, but each episode will be a nice treat when I get around to it, not a must was as soon as it airs.

Hold on. If they put everyone in wheelchairs that have a boost button this could be fun to watch. Also everyone is dressed as a furry. And all your friends are yelling at you.
I’m in.

A 40 minute video about dishwasher soap is either,
Win. Win.
Also it’s B. Great video.

I mean it is a cool idea. It’s not a cool idea for a last minute series finale, but it’s a cool idea.

I watch The Daily Show, Colbert & Seth Meyers most nights (and John Oliver). Usually the monologues and major bits (Meanwhile, Closer Look, etc), and then the interview if it looks interesting (or always if it’s Jon).

No. Under the desk or not at all. https://youtu.be/mNiqpBNE9ik
Absolutely Abbot Elementary is the best show about teachers.
What I enjoyed the most about English Teacher was the interaction with the students.
One of my favorite episodes (spoilers ahead) was when the students were talking the SATs or something and one of the students had accomodations. However she completely abused the accomodations asking for ridiculous things and anytime someone questioned her she just responded with, “You can’t ask me that”, followed immediately by another teacher confirming and warning the original teacher that “You can’t ask that”. Then the incompetent principal shows up and uses reverse psychology to immediately get the student to start.
Actually the funniest episode is when they made a play based on COVID.
It was a fun show.
