A friend and I would do patrols in Destiny back in the day and just shoot the shit.

Since we fell off Destiny 2 years ago, we’ve been searching for another game that we could get into together but haven’t found one.

Have you tried any of the “friendslop” genre (I hate the name but it seems to be sticking)? Peak, RV there yet, etc.

I haven’t played any yet myself but most of my friends reach for those for just that reason.

If you want more of a shooter with powers you could try Deadlock.

If you specifically want a Destiny 2 replacement, I can’t vouch for it myself but I know several people who switched to Warframe.

I have a small group (4 of us) that’s been playing since 2020 - very casual, just chatting and playing whatever. Usually co-op. Here’s a list of some standouts that we enjoyed a lot or go back to regularly:

    • Sea of Thieves
    • Risk of Rain 2
    • Content Warning
    • Fortnite
    • PEAK
    • Straftat
    • Schedule 1
    • Warhammer Vermintide 2
    • Golf With Your Friends
    • Super Battle Golf
    • World War Z
  • Every game popular with streamers, if you really just want a game that is more fun in the background kinda way. Simple and not really demanding of your attention.

Helldivers 2 is a good one that is also a fun game you can hunker down in and get sweaty with if you want more than that. It has varying difficulty levels so it’s what you want to make of it.

Seconding the ‘friendslop’ recommendations, all of those games are relatively cheap and fun to mess around with friends. REPO was a big hit in my group even if it doesn’t have that much content.

Deep Rock Galactic is pretty ridiculous, and a wide array of mission types & difficulties to choose from as a party of =/<4. The upgrade system’s fun, too, and loadout synergy is essential but uncomplicated.

    Leave no dwarf behind! 🤘🏼🌑⛏️💎

Seconded. My friend and I have been playing it for years now. Over 400 hours on Steam. At this point we’ve basically unlocked everything that isn’t a seasonal cosmetic but we still play. For us it’s just the right balance of engaging enough that it’s not boring, but not so demanding that we can’t chat about other stuff while playing. Although I imagine that depends on the difficulty you choose. We’ve stuck with the middle difficulty: Hazard 3. There’s even a ton of random stuff to mess around with in the hub if you’re done with your play session but just want to have something to do before you get off.

      ROCK AND STONE!

Co-op games I’d recommend that people can just mess around in multiplayer, not caring much about what’s going on:

    • Starbound
    • Stardew Valley
    • Metal Slug franchise
    • Minecraft
    • Saints Row franchise

Deep rock galactic. Rock And Stone. Great fun and if you want it easy it can be. If you want it hard, it can be.

Throwing Dayz out there. Running around looting together, base building and skirmishes. Had great fun running with friends.

Division 2 is relatively cheap for the amount of content and mostly thoughtless until endgame. You just do stuff at your level, get new guns and gear, level up, do new stuff at new level, rinse and repeat.

Your build only matters once you can no longer level up, which depends on your DLC access.

I’ve been playing it with a friend while we talk about news and current events.
