Dark Money by Jane Mayer, Listen, Liberal by Thomas Frank, and Democracy in Chains by Nancy Maclean are 3 of my favorite books to recommend together to really sum up how fucked the two political parties are and how we got here.
Dark Money kinda gives the dem party a pass and frames them as victims, but Thomas Frank goes into how the Koch Brothers were on the board of the Democratic Leadership Council that helped elect Bill Clinton and really ties it all together.
Also, the Koch’s were giving a bunch of money to Democrats for a while.
