More copaganda!
Is there popular copaganda on streaming only services? Or is that still the domain of broadcast first networks?
There’s copaganda everywhere. Cop shows are like the cosmic background radiation of TV. Cheap, trope heavy, the plots and characters basically write themselves.
I feel like Apple TV is light on copaganda compared to the broadcast networks. I can’t think of one off the top of my head.
Yeah, Apple TV seems to have cornered the “high concept sci-fi” segment, instead.
Assuming detectives count, Criminal Record? I don’t know, I just looked it up, I don’t actually have Apple stuff. I’d be really surprised if there wasn’t more on it, even if it’s not original programming.
Edit: Slow Horses too perhaps? Although it’s more domestic intelligence shit, it’s in the same vein.
Oh yeah, Slow Horses is probally one that kinda counts. But it definitely doesn’t have the typical copaganda feel.
Edit: Hijack probally kinda counts too. But even less than Slow Horses. At least based on what I saw of the first season.
Slow Horses is technically a cop show, I guess, but they definitely don’t paint them in a great light.
Prime Video has a few Copgandas.
- Reacher
- On-Call
- Bosch
- Bosch Legacy
- Cross
- Ballard (this may be from another network originally)
- The Sinner. I think this started on another network and landed here
HBO has a number of cop shows. Though I would not categorize them all as copganda.
- The Wire
- We Own This City
- Task
- The Mare Of Easttown
- True Detective (this is copganda)
- The Night Of
i think episodic procedural/sitcom shows are pushed to broadcasting because people don’t need to watch every episode or in exactly the right order. Serialized works better for streaming because you’re guided through each episode in order.
