It’s also to do with brain chemistry. The chemicals in your brain can literally make you either see the depressing stuff in everything, or the hope in everything. It’s not usually a choice.

I’m so glad I had a glass-half-full mentality instilled in me from an early age. I see people with the opposite and they are exhausting

I’m generally an optimist and find joy in the smallest things, but next week is gonna be real hard. The one thing I know I’ll have to bring something nice is entertainment (gaming, movies, shows, music).

Definitely a pessimist here but its mostly worked out well for me. Eg i assumed there would be no social security when i was older so i started investing small amounts when i got my first job. That compounded and I managed to retire at 40, am now 60.

Over a decade ago , experts said climate change was going to make it worse where i lived, so I moved thousands of miles to a safer spot. They’ve since had massive floods and friends homes were inundated. It’s now so hot and humid they complained endlessly when I catch up.

    Evidence based pessimism I guess ? :).

But then I enjoy sitting on my quiet balcony, on the edge of my tiny rural village, reading a book with my like minded partner. So always been a bit “divergent” in that respect.

I’m going to focus on keeping to myself a bit more, and start working on an old project that I put away.
