How does that make any sense compared to moderates going to the Republican party?
Like, the current Dems are “progressives” who want what every other 1st world country got decades ago, and “moderates” who want what Republicans wanted decades ago…
Why are the “moderates” trying to moderate the Dem party instead of the one that’s so far from center they’re openly fascist?
If they had stayed where they were in the 80s, then the furthest right we’d have been in 2024 was Kamala
Do you understand how ridiculous it is to say everyone to the left of them should go R?
Absolutely best case scenario we end up with two modern Dem parties and that fixes nothing.
But if the moderates go to the Republican party?
They’d get what they want, they can be pro-fracking. They can be for genocide, they can be for politicians using insider knowledge to make millions off the stock market, they can be for the end of political donations regulations.
And have total party unity on all those topics, while moderating the Republicans so they run McCains instead of trumps.
But that’s hard.
And moderates have never been fighters.
The only way they’ll go moderate Republicans, is if Dems kick them the fuck out of running the party.
They did it in 08, they’ll do it again if we get a progressive to the general. It’s not a problem either because we’ll gain waaaaay more votes than we lose.
Nah, if they didn’t have nukes and US backing (which is likely how they have nukes)…
Then they wouldn’t act like they’re untouchable and wouldn’t commit so many genocides against neighboring countries…
Like, what you’re doing is saying the schoolyard bully has to be a bully because no one likes them. Ignoring the fact that the reason no one likes them is they keep beating up smaller kids.
They can stop being a bully anytime and the situation would improve. Getting mad at the bullied kids because they don’t like the bully makes no logical sense.
Like, you expect people to just ignore when a different country attacks yours and kills your children?
That’s just water under the bridge and they should get over it?
It’s their fault for responding to violence with violence instead of meekly allowing themselves to be exterminated?
Do you even read what you type?
Or do you legitimately just not understand what’s happening?
Can’t blame this on trump…
This is 100% on the people Biden appointed to his admin just not having it in them to fight.
Not everyone has it, that’s fine, human variation is normal.
But we can’t afford to keep putting cowards in position of power. We need someone that will actually try to enforce the law.
The International Atomic Energy Agency is expected to vote on a censure resolution against Iran for its lack of cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.
Correct me if I’m wrong…
But aren’t Israel’s nukes “open secrets” because they’re not legally allowed to have nuclear weapons either?
Everyone knows they have them, we just pretend they don’t
As a hypothetical sure…
But we broke fossil fuel production records under trump, we broke them under Biden, and there’s no reason to think trump won’t break them again.
For fucks sake, they had both of the only two options be pro-fracking this time…
Billion dollar fossil fuel corporations don’t have to worry, they already bought both parties. And have been lobbying trump to leave Biden’s “signature climate change legislation” intact, because it makes them a bunch of money and comes with zero negatives.
So as a hypothetical you’re example would fit.
Except no one is doing this but currently:
the government is spending time and money on regulating (fossil fuels)
In this scenario malicious compliance is doing your job properly and efficiently.
This is what happens when you let a far right genocidal ethnostate buy off the only two political parties…
Sometimes I really think the only problem neoliberals have with putin is he isn’t cutting twice as many checks.
That still covered the very top of departments, not entire agency workforces
If you want to see what resigning out of protest or fear from far right extremists leads to…
Look up the KKK’s role in ending reconstruction, and what happened to the American South when anyone who wasn’t racist was afraid to vote let alone hold position in government.
Giving up is rarely the right move, and federal employees have one of the strongest unions in America and it’s comically hard to be fired unless you’re a political appointee.
And that is entirely intentional and for this exact scenario.
Resigning just makes it easier for them for no reason. It concentrates the shitty employees who will go along with anything, and it shrinks the federal government when they don’t try to restaff
Lots of people will never buy a Tesla, but when you order an Uber and that shitshow appears, you can only cancel so many times before the app gets mad at you for it.
Human drivers was always a temporary thing for those apps, they’ll keep squeezing human drivers so they don’t have to pay maintenance on vehicles, but the second Muskmobiles becomes popular, there goes the closest thing to a job that’s been keeping a lot of people afloat.
There’s going to be a real negative effect when those disappear, even tho they’re barely jobs to begin with.
“We must raise the standard of living for our members and the entire working class through unity, solidarity, and working-class power,” said Fain. “No matter who is in the White House.”
Noting that “in a democracy, the four most important words are: The People Have Spoken,” Fain suggested that the Democratic Party did not convince a key constituency—working people, including an estimated 78% of Americans who live paycheck-to-paycheck—that it represents their interests, and as a result handed the presidential victory to President-elect Donald Trump.
And mainstream Dems are proving Fain’s point by doing a complete 180 and just being fine with trump coming back into power.
Newsome’s doing some grandstanding in Cali that should have been decades ago, but it’s disappointing the majority seem content to just chill till the run up to the next election. Well,
And I don’t mean the next couple years won’t be shit for us, but for them…
They just don’t really care, and that’s why they keep losing.
It’s profit margin
7.5k on a 30k EV is huge, and would lead to lots of sales.
No one stupid enough to pay 110k for a cyber shit will car about a 7.5k tax credit.
So Tesla might take a little hit, but it’s a huge disadvantage for affordable EVs
Yeah, kind of went on a rant there…
I think I took your comment as rationale for Dems who resign from the federal workforce in “protest”.
But now I’m thinking you meant that’s why Republicans don’t.
If that was the case, then yeah I misunderstood and my comment would seem like it came out of nowhere.
If you stay in and Trump is elected and everything you’re warning about comes to pass, how will you feel in January?" Stephanopoulos asked Biden.
“I’ll feel, as long as I gave it my all, and I did as good a job as I know I can do, that’s what this is about,” the president responded.
People give Republicans shit for not knowing about things trump said he would do…
Yet moderates continue to not know how Biden said he would things…
He was never built to fight fascism, we wasted four years of what could be (but probably isn’t) our last chance.
And people still want to claim we need to move further right in 2028?
I’m struggling so much to understand what kind of logic those people are using. Even when it “works” it doesn’t actually work, it’s a brief reprieve at best.
Oh ok…
You’re right, historically it has been best to bow to far right extremists making terroristic threats so the only members of the government are ones that agree with them.
/s
Did you know we’ve literally tried that before?
It’s what ended reconstruction and was the original mission of the KKK.
People did what you’re supporting back then, it worked out fucking horribly. Seriously, people taking your current advice back then is one of the forks in the road that led to the current fucking shit show. But first it led to Jim Crow laws and massive civil rights setbacks. Because people cowed to just not threats but actual murders.
I swear, the vast majority of the reasons we can’t fix the same problems, is people refuse to remember how many times something has happened, what failed last time, and why we shouldn’t keep fucking doing it over and over.
And I’m not coming down on you personally, it’s just no one knows this shit anymore.
Fighting isn’t easy, we don’t just get to sit on the couch and make social media comments and call it a day.
You want to actually do something to help the government resist?
You might not want trump to be your boss, but again:
Fighting isn’t easy
If only trump sycophants work in the US government, he’ll break a lot more shit
Not always.
Like, all the deportations, that would “break” our society, but to even attempt it would take huge amounts of money, planning, and competent people. Even to do it poorly.
Hell, even his threat to get rid of Department of Education, he can’t just say “you’re fired” and then everyone goes home. I mean, he could say that, he could order their pay stopped, he could even lock the doors and shut off all the networked IT.
But there would be a metric shitton of legal proceeding and resulting settlements for years.
It’s just crazy to me that everyone thinks turning (at least the remnants of) a democracy into a dictatorship is just fucking declaring it like Michal Scott declares bankruptcy.
He’s 100% going to try, I just don’t know why people suddenly expect trump and his sycophants magically became competent in the last four years.
Scuttlebutt is already record breaking retirements across most federal agencies for January, and there’s going to be lots more that try it but dip out after a few months. And I’m not talking people discussing the possibility, I mean the process has already started.
Which is a really bad thing…
A lot of the goverment is perpetually understaffed, and all these ultra conservative department heads are just going to do hiring freezes, keeping it even smaller.
Republicans don’t have to cut government staffing when everyone always runs away rather than stay and do what they can.
Republicans sure as shit don’t resign when a Dem shows up. They stick around and obstruct what they disagree with and try to maintain any ground they can.
It’s disappointing so many aren’t getting this…
It’s the same as “unpaid internships” being advantage to rich kids who can afford to work without pay.
Like, there is an inordinate amount of rich assholes that would love to spend 80 hours a week finding way to cut taxes, regulations, and the social safety net.
If you’re rich enough to begin with, this could pay a hell of a lot better than anything else you would spend your time on. Couple hundred million in the bank or stock market, and it would be more profitable than any actual job.
And let’s be honest, Musk and Trump aren’t judging IQ by the freaking Wechsler exam, when rich idiots talk about IQ, they mean zeros in a bank account.
They’re surrounded by countries they constantly attack and stir shit with…
And by “stir shit” I mean commit war crimes, human rights abuses, and outright genocide.
Yet you’re surprised the neighbors don’t like them?
