A homeless Black trans woman wished to be in a transit center/warming center due to extreme cold weather on Sunday evening, January 25, 2026 in Lansing, Michigan. She was previously banned from Capital Area Transportation Authority facilities, but had nowhere to go for the night. Police arrived to arrest her for trespassing, and brutally assaulted her by throwing her to the floor, bashing her head on the ground, and kneeling on her neck.
Most of the shelters in Lansing are operated by religious organizations that discriminate against LGBTQ+ people. Barring a homeless trans woman from a warm, public space can be a death sentence.
I wanted to put this video out there since it has only circulated on Facebook and hasn’t gotten much attention.

Fucking pigs. You try to do exactly what they fucking ask and they still do this shit. Just throwing their power around is the whole point, cornering someone and making demands and escalating the situation because they do not want to de-escalate, they had every intention of arresting and brutalising her from the start. They were not letting her go even though she said she would.
There is unquestionably nothing wrong this person has done except exist.

That’s why they’ll even give one contradictory instructions to start, like crawl on the floor with your hands behind your back, so when the person can’t comply, they might even shoot because the cops ‘feel threatened for their lives’. Deception and pretext is what these pigs learn, along with the brutalizing.
I know cops are made to protect the bourgeoisie, but like, I’ve never seen this kind of “shoot first, questions later” behaviour by cops in other white settler countries. What is it about American pigs that makes them like this? I assume it’s due to their racist history?
The racist history is a big factor, lots to say there obviously. But the increased (or maybe just more out in the open?) violence in the last 20ish years can be partially explained by:
