According to https://library.ucsd.edu/dc/object/bb0000819h yes it’s real and the year it’s from is 1941 more specifically 1941-07-08. You can view what I think might be all or most of his political cartoons here: https://library.ucsd.edu/dc/collection/bb65202085

Damn, Dr. Seuss made some banger adult comics. Yet, the only ones which were remembered are the children’s stuff.

The colloquial term for adult-themed comic magazines is, or are least used to be, Comix, I think. Not the porn ones, that is.

Yeah, I honestly think it’s really interesting! More specifically, Seuss was in the Signal Corps to make propaganda like this alongside other artists you might know such as Stan Lee! Lee even made propaganda/survival comics for troops since a lot of them couldn’t be bothered to read manuals for a lot of their equipment lol.

Holy shit, that’s awful lmao. The only real thing from that entire pamphlet is that there’s no real difference between L and R in Japanese (Think of ramen for example. It was a borrowed/translated word from Chinese: lo mein.) But I guess that’s why it’s propaganda in the first place.

Seek out Rachel Maddow’s podcast, Ultra. I’m about 1000 light years from a Maddow fan but its actually a really good piece of investigative work about the explicitly and powerfully pro-fascist America First movement during ww2 and after. It just never ceases to be true, that no matter how much you accept the closeness of American patriotism and genocidal dictatorial fascism, the reality is always that they’re a little closer than you thought.
