Hello everyone. Hope you have all had a great week. This week I was not able to get much gaming in but I did start a 2nd playthrough of the Outer Worlds 2. Hope everyone is doing well
I got back into rimworld and started a normal (crashlanded) game in a fairly easy spot in a tropical rainforest.
“I pick tropical because the extra disease lets me train my doctors more effectively” -

Got a really nice set of random colonists with 2 pawns at over 5 medical and passion!
Both doctors get the plague and even with my starcraft broodwar micromanagement they both died.
I only play commitment mode so back to the drawing board
Finished Castlevania belmonts curse. It’s a fun Metroid vania. I would put it in the same ballpark as Prince of Persia the lost crown, but probably slightly higher because I enjoyed the combat in this so much more than in lost crown, and belmonts curse has better getting lost while exploring which is important in a metroidvania for me.
Started blasphemous 2; now it feels like a banger which shouldn’t surprise me considering I adored the first one. Great pixel animation, excellent movement feel, very fun boss fights that require you to learn them.
Conquest of Elysium 5.
I am having a lot of fun with this weird, purposefully unbalanced game. Nothing quite like the fantasy of running a very overpowered fantasy country competing with several other such countries.
Been playing Reedus and Fetus 2
. Enjoying it so far - just met the jonkler
and I’m running some random missions to 5 star the preppers I have unlocked so far. Ghost in the Shell Pizza Man is pretty great. Also been playing Baldur’s Gate 3 with a friend of mine. He’s still new to the game, so I’m throwing wild shit into the mix and it’s been fun. I’m playing a duergar monk and rejecting ranged weapons out of principle. Only thrown weapons and random items (dead rats are a favorite) for me.
I’ve been on a bender the last six months, both in life and games. So far my bodycount is Stellaris, Endless Sky, and StarCraft.
For starters, I got sucked into the Hexbear Stellaris meme. Last time I said I :LIB:ed out and became the United Nations and was preparing to have a relaxing time. Fate, it seems, wanted to make this the greatest Stellaris game I’ve played. I started to write about it here but found I was pouring out a novel, so I’ll save the playthrough for later. Long story short, my previous best game in 2017 ended with a 1M vs 1M fleet battle with an Awakened Ascendancy, but my current game just one battle was 1.8M vs 1.3M, and I’m not sure if I can wrestle first place from my rival! Unfortunately I burned out from such an intense game that I haven’t finished it yet.
After burning out on Stellaris, I switched to Endless Sky. Me and my 400+ hours playtime highly recommend it! It’s a 2D open-source Escape Velocity spiritual successor. You start with a wimpy cargo ship or fighter and through trade and fighting build up into a big fleet with a huge flagship. It has that one-more-mission vibe that keeps sucking up my free time. It also runs on just about any platform including mobile.
Finally I saw that new Starcraft trailer, and got very nostalgic for OG Starcraft. Ok, I need to say some bad things about Starcraft, so understand I do love this game and have played it for decades, but it is growing very long in tooth. The worst though is that all the good parts have been copied to death by other games (like three factions; blocky, pointy, round) so the painful parts stick out even more. I wrote once that going back to vintage games is tough because you are effectively reversing all of the Quality of Life advancements.
I think historical-materialist forces cause an evolution of an artform that make earlier forms less accessible. … It’s not like earlier game developers didn’t have grandiose ideas about what they wanted (see: Dungeons and Dragons), but those limitations means only the absolutely necessary make it into the game. Many games of the 80s and 90s came with a manual because they could not fit all the descriptions/tutorials/story within the game executable itself. It also meant that affordances from later games are conspicuously absent, and can make going back in time a frustrating experience.
I’m kinda hesitant to replay the Brood War campaign because I remember it was frustrating even way back when. For all the bad things I’ve said, Starcraft still oozes style and worldbuilding. A depressing many RTS games have lifeless campaigns with missions that feel deeply arbitrary. Who knows, maybe I’ll come back to Brood War like my recent Halo playthrough and realize things aren’t so bad or I’m a better player than I was before.
bowling, will report back with scores later Edit. Not good best score was 130 lol
Like IRL bowling? I used to love doing that when I was a kid but since PE bought every alley in the country its $70 for 2 games where I live
Yeah IRL, there’s a bowling alley like 10 min from where I live that has games for $2.50 all day every Sunday
Wow that’s insane prices where you live fuck that
It’s valheim night with my partner and friends :3
We are entering the mistlands and i am scared
Taking a break from games after FFX and my break will be… making a game
Fighting a cold and started sekiro.
Killed the first main boss on my first shot. Enjoying lady B, should have her soon.
i absolutely love that game. It’s the only game I’ve ever gotten a platinum on, and I just kept going to NG+7 charmless
I have plat on ds3, bb, elden ring and DeS. We’ll see if I get locked in, but so far it’s fun.
I played ds 2 and 1 on ps3 so don’t have trophy lol
bb is a top tier game, but i just could not bring myself to slog through the chalice dungeons.
My pc exploded and died entirely so sadly not muc, I managed to yoink an ancient pc that was gathering dust from work but its only good for anything pre 2010.
This only sucks cus my current hyperfixation is deadlock and ive just been watching streamers n shit play. One day ill get to play goatman and catlady agane
Torn and GTA:SA on mobile. Nothing major, I’m not really a g*mer by any means.
Been on a big ARPG kick and have ended up playing PoE 2
Playing Ragnarok Online on the SpringRO server. Also downloaded a couple of the Metal Slug games from GOG.
Heeeey. I’ve been playing on and off since the alpha test. We keep filling up every time we expand our capacity, but consider asking to join Flower if you don’t have a guild. The gm will put you on the invite list for when we level up next. They are a super friendly group of people.
Okay I will probably forget tho lol. I found 3 cards today btw, the increase drop rates on lowbie mobs is nice.
I’m getting cooked in Pokemon Champions as I prep for my first Regional.
Good luck in the regional! What’s your team plan?
I’m using Michael Kelsch’s Mega-Raichu Mega-Staraptor team and just trying to play as much as I can to kind of learn matchups, but I’ve definitely struggling on ladder lately.
It’s tough because the team’s a but outdated and I don’t have a ton of time to sink in to modify it, so I’m working on piloting it the best I can.
Oh nice! I’ve not played Reg M-C at all actually but Mega Raichu was my favorite to use in M-B, because of the way it shits on Archaludon. Off the top of my head I think Rillaboom could be a good partner for Raichu
Yeah I hate losing to Arch too - here’s the team, it has Rillaboom who has been awesome.
