I have an extra poster frame and want to order/print a Soviet style propaganda poster. This one was my first thought
but I have a tattoo based on it so it feels repetitive.

I don’t think it’s a poster so I’m not sure it counts. But anything by this artist stuns me. How did he get those reds so red. If anyone could tell me the name of the artist I would be appreciative.

boris and kaleria kurkuliev. They’re palekh artists so this likely went on cigarette cases or boxes, make up cases or as cutouts in magazines. (For the purpose of dyi decorating stuff like cigarette or makeup cases)

There’s like different schools of soviet lacquer art, pelekh is just one of them (Although IIRC it’s the one with typically the wildest stuff on it). Some of them are more into doing like miniature landscapes or scenes from fairy tales.
It was basically a form of maintaining the icon painting tradition as religion became less of a dominant force. People needed less icons painted, but people still needed little boxes of stuff.
