That’s the thing that I and everyone else seem to love about it, it’s a fantastic proxy for the feeling of playing the games for the first time and that makes it engaging for people who don’t know the story or characters. Because the story and characters have been mostly unimportant until recently, and that’s not what got most people hooked on the games in the first place. I mean it partly was, but mostly for me it was about surviving horrors against the backdrop of a rotten MIC conspiracy destroying the city it was born in, the grundle-tingling feeling of unraveling a deadly mystery.

When i think about the pure distilled feeling of resident evil, I remember being the last one awake at a third grade sleepover with the gamecube controller in my hand, too scared to walk into the village because I can already see an impaled burning corpse from here.

I know Kojima gets ragged on for being esoteric and weird (which isn’t unfair) but I really do idolize his ability to hone-in on a vibe and communicate it to someone consuming media.

Like I don’t agree with a lot of the choices he made in Death Stranding but damnit if it wasn’t at least memorable and dripping with a VIBE. I can at least point to the issues I have with it and go “okay I see /why/ they did that even though I think it was a miss” and that’s cool.

Talk about lofty praise. I’d be incredibly proud if Kojima said this about my work.

Id rove an hour to the theater. Had the chance to see either Digger or Resident Evil. Saw Digger. Don’t regret watching digger but I did want to see this

I found it pretty good. I think I wrote down. “What if someone was more average dude then Ethan Winters and the T virus stuff was already cranked up to 11”

But if you have any major no nos with trigger ID def check out “Does the dog die”

Also this is the guy who did Weapons and Barbarian.
