Some funny tidbits to add here- the White Sox came in dead last in their division last year and were projected to come last again. They somehow overcame all expectations through meme magic and the power of friendship to make it to the playoffs, even sweeping the Astros in the first round. Not to mention that the new Pope is a HUGE White Sox fan, so they were seemingly carried by blessings from up above. And Ben undid all those good vibes with one little tweet.
Man’s lucky he wasn’t kirk’d by someone who had his last 100 dollars on the white sox taking the world series.
I guess it’s early, still
And the Pope just announced they found a nodule in his lungs today. Jose Ramirez committing Papicde

i thought chicago’s team was the cubs, and that they haven’t won in a century
Chicago has two teams, and the Cubs won the world series ten years ago, snapping a losing streak that lasted 108 years.
damn they should give one to des moines or something
they have two teams, north side and south side, and the Cubs broke the curse in 2016.
The public image is that the Cubs are the bourgeoise team with a fanbase composed of yuppies and suburbanites while the White Sox are the gritty working class team from the Southside. You can see the disparity in the team payrolls- Cubs being 7th in the MLB with $254 million and the Sox at 27th (of 30) with a paltry $94 million. This team was NOT supposed to reach the playoffs. Hence the lovable underdog story that played out this year. They were everyone’s second favorite team basically (after whichever hometown team they rooted for). The season also created a new superstar in the Japanese sensation Munetaka Murakami.
Liking a bad team is the most human thing about him actually.
Did they do something horrible to get him to support them? Or does he just like them because they have “white” in the name?
