That little face!
This post is for casual conversation if you don’t feel like making a post of your own.
There are a few routes to bicycle to work for me. My favorite takes a couple of hiking/biking trails. The trees are changing colors where I live and bicycling over trails is a delight.
So the phone is setup and it makes calls fine. Man it has so much more storage on it. I was constantly having delete apps because I couldn’t fit them all. The backbackroom is getting much cleaner, but still requires a lot. Mostly because I want to keep a lot of stuff lol.
I’m rewatching Taskmaster from the start. When I get to season 8 I’m going to have to skip. Iain makes me so uncomfortable how shouty he is and I just feel miserable for Paul. My mother has Parkinsons. I…can’t watch that anymore.
Think about the baaaack room. There’s a fish tank in there from…god knows when. It currently has a bunch of sprues in it. Maybe I can make a little diorama of husband’s little warhammer mens.
Playing with a post titled: Towards a Deficit-Based Model of The Majority: Reality Processing Disorder (Typical).
The core traits of this disorder is the inability to process reality (ie, the truth):
- strong negative emotional responses to hearing the truth
- strong aversion to telling the truth
- difficulty accepting the truth when it conflicts with their personal or professional relationships
Other traits include:
- Pathological socioemotional dependence on others with the disorder
- An inability to enter shutdown mode in overwhelming and socially abusive environments, even after years
- Inability to externalize stress via physical activity
- High tolerance for low-production activities
Anyway, if you have any more traits to add, let me know and I’ll add them.
Is this something distinct from cognitive dissonance, or largely a more developed and specific framework?
It’s a bit of good-for-the-gander: everything autistic people is cast as a deficit.
Reality Processing Disorder (Typical) is just a deficit-based way to describe neurotypical behavior from an autistic perspective.
So, autistic desire for bluntness over protecting people feelings, if it were the MAJORITY view, would be seen as “normal” and it would be the neurotypicals of having the disorder of never saying what they mean (oo! I need to add that!).
Thank you! I think I understand now.
I like to keep my jokes dry as possible, but I might need to include a little explainer.
I hope this is useful in understanding why I missed the joke: I wanted to match what I thought was a serious tone because I was afraid of causing insult if it seemed I wasn’t treating your comment as earnest.
Maybe part of the joke is referencing that autistic people need to make their own frameworks because (especially as adults) we are left to raw dog an existence not made for us yet we yearn for rules. I’ve seen a few people creating theories like this seriously, although they are often centring the autistic experience instead of dissecting allistic traits. That’s why I was being extra careful when wording my question.
So yeah, maybe a little tone indicator when you make your post would be good, or even explaining that this is an exercise in pathologizing allistic behavior instead of the other way around.
Good morning. Dc was fun. I bought a suit. I’m drop-dead tired and have a full day today. yay.
Good morning. My cats woke me up at 4:30 for food and then wanted to cuddle around 6. So now I’m tired and haven’t even started the day. But I love the little monsters so I have to figure out how to have them leave me alone until dawn.
