I wondered if it would move in that direction when they announced the upcoming address with von der Leyen. It will be a long road to a deal but I think it will be worth it in the end.

This may be similar to what pushed Russia to invade Ukraine. Canada is playing a dangerous game and it better be ready to deal with the consequences. I doubt the Canadians are as strong-willed as Ukrainians.

Edit: the USA will not allow Canada to establish strong connections that will undermine USA influence any more than it currently does. The Monroe doctrine is clear, any country that challenges that in the western hemisphere gets a taste of CIA intervention. In Canada’s case Alberta is prime for CIA influence.

Your comment implies not only that The US sees Canada as its vassal state it has at its command, but also that the US wouldn’t hesitate to invade to keep Canada from moving closer to the EU. Which is an absolutely asinine take, even with Trump in power. Are you drunk?

Just to be clear troll, Canada is already several states. If Canada were to join the US it would be 51-59ish and they would all vote blue which is why it will never ever happen even if all the brain dead idiots think it’s a good idea.

Assuming you’re not a russian troll or a ragebaitng trumpist, do any kind of research whatsoever on Canada’s implications in war and you’ll see.

Appeasement never works for bullies or dictators. You can’t back out, compromise on your values, isolate yourself - all in all, Canada’s resolve will last forever - the one causing all this won’t.

It’s a valid concern, and one that needs to be considered when deciding the path ahead. You’re right that appeasement won’t work, but if you’ll excuse the analogy… in chess, it’s important to anticipate how your opponent will respond to your move, so that you can consider your options for how to respond to the opponent’s likely response. It’s called “thinking several moves ahead” and it’s an absolute must. When you game the sequence out, you can see whether the initial decision will ultimately lead to good outcomes or bad outcomes. Even if a bold move is necessary, sometimes “thinking several moves ahead” will allow you to see what other pieces you might need to move into place first before making that bold move.

In Canada’s case, if it knows that becoming a beachhead for Europe in the New World will trigger a Monroe/“Donroe” Doctrine freakout from the US, the key question is: does Canada have its pieces in place to be ready for that foreseeable sequence of events? If not, then this move is premature.

You do understand not everybody is a trumpet or a troll. Just because you don’t like the words that are on your screen doesn’t mean you have to see it with rage like a child. The fact is Canada needs to prepare because the possibility of an invasion is there. Leftists that don’t take threats seriously are the reason why countries lose Wars.

You are absolutely a troll. Lol. Do you actually feel that you added anything of value to this discussion? Your comment was only meant to antagonize. What I see here is pure projection, you are acting like a child. I can’t imagine how sad of a life someone must have to go on the internet and spend their time embarassing themselves like this.

We are. See the drone deals with Ukraine.
The US cannot hold the country for multiple reasons.

First is that your own people will starve in darkness without all of the goods Canada sells you. The US needs Canada, we don’t need you.

The one thing Canada has that the US absolutely needs is the oil. However, USA is Canada’s ONLY customer since no other pipeline or port exists. I expect Alberta secessionist movement to intensify over the coming months and that being the true catalyst of the upcoming conflict. This EU thing will just keep escalating the situation.

              We supply
30% of US electricity 100% of US nickel, US has 1 mine, but no refining capability(refined in Canada) 70% of the oil refined at mid-west refineries, which can only handle Albertan or Venezeulan oil. Albertan oil is sold at a huge markdown to them as well, largely why your gas prices are so low. 30% of Uranium used 90% of potash(required for farming, we are the largest potash supplier in the world)

We are some 60% of your car export market. And a large chunk of your natural gas. We own a good swath of your pipelines and respectable set of railways.

The Venezeulan oil theft is a decade away from new supply to US shores because all of the infrastructure has to be built.

Meanwhile, Europe Japan China and South Korea are inking deals with Carney to get the stuff the US is trying to steal from us.

I am not arguing the importance of Canada to the USA. I just want to point out the USA will not allow Canada to leave it’s sphere of influence.

Do you understand what the Monroe doctrine is? Canada along with every other country in the western hemisphere answers to the USA. Look at any country that stands up to USA, they don’t end up having a good time. As we speak the USA has agents on the ground in Canada (especially in Alberta) making sure that things fall into place for the USA.

If Carney thinks he can establish trade deals with other countries, especially outside of the western hemisphere, then I hope he is taking steps to defend the homeland against what’s coming.

The CIA already has multiple options played out for Canada if they step out of line. The question is does Canada have counter measures ready? I don’t think they do and I think Alberta is perfectly set up for CIA meddling.
