I found various issues with federation.
- Fail to federate posts with some mastodon instances (for example masto.nobigtech.es)
- Posts links with browser.pub says “No ActivityPub found”
- Example https://browser.pub/https://scribe.disroot.org/post/2163164
- Good example with other lemmy instance https://browser.pub/https://chachara.club/post/3829
- Some community suscriptions stay in “pending suscription” state
I’m going to reply with my lemmy account that I’ll write a long text haha.
It is a system that is very good, has many interesting apps, and also allows emulation of Android apps for officially supported devices with license (in some others you can also use waydroid, but does not work in all). As it doesn’t have Google services, some apps that require it don’t work or some of its options don’t work, although Micro-G can be installed to solve some problems.
Regarding better or worse, I would say it is different, it gives you more freedom to modify things in the system, more privacy, but I think it is not suitable for all users, since that greater freedom of modification, involves having a responsibility to know what is modified to not break anything.
As for the battery, in my case I have no complaint the truth and I will say well all day with intensive use, although I can not compare with Android, since the two devices I have, Sony Xperia 10 Plus and Sony Xperia 10 V (which I use as the main device currently although its version is in beta and does not work things like the camera or fingerprint reader yet), I have used them exclusively with SailfishOS.
In my case I am quite comfortable with this system and that’s why recently when I renewed my phone I opted for another compatible with it. I invite you to visit their forum to learn a little more about it https://forum.sailfishos.org/latest
