  • Can you imagine the slander she'd receive on a national level if this went to trial in the next few years? It could be legitimately dangerous to her safety, even if she was found to be completely in the right.

  • Haha, all good until you get some gravel in the brush!

  • Hey, ideas are great to explore, and we don't know if there's a place or community this would serve. Not every project has to be scalable! Diversity of uses is a good thing. There's not a single solution for moving to renewable energy, creativity will be required.

  • A very neat idea, quite innovative! My initial reaction would be that this would be a great way to recycle panels from larger, traditional projects that are getting upgraded anyway. My concern with new panels is that with moving trains above them, there's a strong chance for breaks in the glass depending on what's being transported, and a huge amount of loss due to dirt accumulating. Those conditions may result in harsh losses for new panels, which may be more beneficial in production elsewhere! Mid- to end-of-life panels might not be producing as much power anyway, so getting a second life in a situation like this one might squeeze a little more power out of them that you wouldn't get otherwise.

Of course, solar panels are very inexpensive nowadays, so financially it might not make that big a difference, but I think it's good to think about best use of the resources we have regardless!

  • It's already coming to Lemmy even. I'd encourage folks to use the block function liberally. Do not feel bad about removing bigots from your feed, they are not entitled to your time or attention. Even if they whine and complain about bubbles online, you do not need to see their hate to know that it exists.

  • Was @pyre@lemmy.world's comment not sufficient in this regard? If this is your first time getting misogyny defined for you, I think you need to branch out from Joe Rogan and try some media with women's voices as a focus.

Since you need your hand held here, this is my perspective: this comic's humor is just perpetuating a common, incorrect stereotype that women act nice to each other but actually hate each other. The punchline is secretly "women be bitches am I right?" and I believe this because if you swapped either or both of the characters in the comic out for men, it would no longer work as a joke.

Now funnily enough, I didn't make my Bechdel test joke for the purpose of starting a debate with dudebros online. I'm sure you'll find something in this comment to pick apart and continue sealioning, so here is your notice that I will not be replying further. Good luck on your journey of learning about feminism!

  • Hey buddy, I think you're projecting quite a bit here. I made a Bechdel test joke, and you got "recreationally offended" over it. Have a sense of humor man! It's just a joke!

  • Let me answer your question with a question: what do you think is the intended joke/humor of this comic?

  • Yes! Correct! This does in fact pass the Bechdel test, while still being deeply misogynistic. Thank you for explaining my joke.

  • When the cartoonist tries to pass the Bechdel test without ever speaking to a woman in his life

  • I'm hoping that "assist" here is a polite way of saying "keeping an eye on". Maybe they'll think twice about pulling shit with non police union folks around who could testify against them later.

  • So Duolingo is lying to me when it makes me say Duo est une chouette? He's got the little ear thingies, he should be un hibou, non?

  • So is the critique for Southern Company for writing some marketing material, or for The Atlantic for running an ad about it?

  • I'm really not one to defend companies, but this is a bit of a weird take, and it makes the author sound really unfamiliar with this business sector. White papers are very common and not peer reviewed, basically they're a glorified memo with statistics. Don't rely on white papers for any information besides what that company is saying about itself and its experience.

  • Is there a reason you have characterized this incident as a gender issue?

Was the poor work the work of the nurse who heard you and chewed you out? Do you often criticize the work of your coworkers in a nonproductive manner, expletives or no?

Did you say anything else before saying "fuck" to your coworker, or before she chewed you out? Do you think you were on good terms with her before this incident?

Are you listening to the specifics of your coworkers' complaints? What are they asking you to do differently?

  • How many US presidential elections do you think there have been since 1984?

  • This is true, but the larger the margin the more difficult it makes it for them to contest.

Vote. Bring your friends and family to vote. Call up your friends in other states and make sure they have a voting plan.

Voting won't magically fix our broken political machine but it will help us from sliding deeper in the hole. Vote like you're taking a stupid little walk outside for your mental health during lockdown- not the only way you should be taking care of things but important maintenance nonetheless.
