  • The only game that came out this year that I played was Gears of War: Reloaded which doesn't even really count since it was just an incredibly lazy re-release of Gears of War Ultimate from 10 years ago, this time on PS5 and Steam. I played the multiplayer for a bit, then went back to Gears 5. Instead of the remastered campaign I just played the 2006 PC version. 40 dollars well spent, thank you Microsoft

All the other games I played were at least 5 years old. At the beginning of the year I finally played the first two Machinehead Wolfenstein games. The New Order was one of the best FPS games I've ever played, The New Colossus was kind of a giant turd.

I also played a ton of cool PS1 and PS2 games I hadn't played before. I would've played more but I started playing RDR2 and that damn game monopolised my gaming time for like six months

  • I didn't mean to imply the latter as the former is what I understand the situation to be from previous discussion and reporting on the issue.

  • Problem description: The authentication system via Steam (OpenID) does not appear to be correctly validating the digital signature (openid.sig) or the response_nonce returned by the Steam servers.

  • Least hexbear hexbear post I've ever read on hexbear

  • I know we all love China here but stuff like this or putting queer fiction authors in prison fucking sucks ass

  • I don't know dick about these confounded map games or this mod but this seems like a pretty wild overreaction by the authorities

  • Even inexpensive entry level smartphones can run PSP games these days

  • Youtube's started recommending Buddhist sutra chanting videos to me for some reason. I love all the Westerners going on about "energy", "vibrations" and "frequencies" in the comments

There's also a suprising amount of people identifying as Indian Buddhists. I thought Buddhism was a pretty minor religion in India

  • It would have 4 gigs of VRAM though which you wouldn't get on an iGPU. I already have a desktop computer that I game on, but it'd still be nice to get the most powerful device possible and I'm pretty sure the CPU is a lot better than what I'd get on many of the other ones I've been looking at

  • A 10 year old GPU is pretty dang nice for this specific price category. Usually it's nothing but integrated Intel HD whatevers

  • I just recently made a post about how I'm looking for a cheap laptop to install Linux on and I might have a line on a 6 year old Asus with an i7 and a GTX 950M and two hard drives, an HDD and SSD. In the bottom of the barrel price range I've set for myself (less than 100$), laptops this recent with a dedicated GPU and this much storage are rare as hell. I know support for older Nvidia GPUs is pretty bad on Linux but I wonder if the GTX 950M is new enough that I wouldn't be consigned to the Nouveau ghetto

  • The Thinkpads I can find at that price point are usually from 2012 and older. The one's that aren't outright museum pieces are mostly Acer and Asus, with some Dell and HP

  • Those go for about 400€ used. I'm trying to find something for less than 100, ideally 50

  • Reverse image can help somewhat

Not really, these aren't product photos but ones snapped by the seller themselves

  • I don't think it's even a ChinaBad thing necessarily and more of a "shitty tabloids being shitty" thing. They love these sorts of "let's all point and laugh at the freak" stories.

The original source in the Kotaku article is mentioned to be The Sun

  • With stories like this I wonder why it's even news and why we're hearing about it all across the world

  • This is in reference to the EU and some individual member states making it much more expensive and annoying to order from places like Temu and AliExpress

  • Oh yeah, I know and I assume that's largely why he hasn't been in the media being portrayed as the pope of Buddhism anymore. Also he has to be super old by now and probably just not in the shape to do big media tours around the world

  • Games @hexbear.net

Why did Red Dead Redemption 2 have not one, not two, but THREE different feral cannibal factions

  • Games @hexbear.net

Remember when every game franchise had its own expanded universe with comic books, novels and straight-to-DVD animated movies

With MGS Delta, it's fun to watch people play Metal Gear for the first time

What do all these remakes have against stylish title screens

  • Games @hexbear.net

Call me a dumbass but I did not expect the Gears of War 1 remake remaster to play exactly like the 2006 game

Y'see, the problem with Hideo Kojima's writing in MGS was that it was too feminist
