Hi, I'm also Terencio on mastodon.social and Sergio on piefed.social. I mostly use this account to make posts that are easier here.

  • “As idle as a painted ship upon a painted ocean.”

Iron Maiden fans will recognize this line from Rime of the Ancient Mariner. (timestamp!)

Mina needs to stop worrying about that loser and just be happy with her "roommate", who is clearly distressed by the idea of getting married to some guy.

In DRACULA MEETS THE SPARTANS the guy at the helm is the Spartan leader, who made a deal whereby Dracula took the Spartans he killed and made them undead, in exchange for the living Spartans agreeing to work for Dracula. After he crashes the ship he jumps off and when the villagers run up to him, he's like: sorry about the landing, it's my first time driving a ship. There's also a scene earlier where one of the Spartans is climbing those ropes up in the masts trying to figure out how to tackle the starboard keelhaul (or whatever) during the storm and he gets blown off the ship, turns into a bat, and flies back.

  • They are "journalism vegans". They are choosing to abstain from actual journalism for clickbaiting, herd mentality, and personal lack of skill reasons.

  • Chiptune symphonic industrial metal! Such a great sound.

  • Awesome, go for it!

  • wow... never seen that before, thanks.

I thought someone was gonna say it was like Eisenfunk - Pong.

  • Yeah, Azathoth fits the bill in many ways.

  • How the mod ruled:

    Great choice!

  • If we're picking characters, I wanna be Uncle Iroh!

  • I heard there's an asteroid with a rose on it that might be available.

  • Yeah, wish I could contribute more... I don't have that much content tho... I think I'm good for 1-2 posts a month as long as the community's active...

  • ...when you remember that the moon influences Earthly rainfall...

  • I think "borrow" has a bad connotation in the US. Like: "beg, borrow or steal". But people should remember that it's theirs, they paid for it with their taxes, they're just sharing it with others.

  • My cousin uses the library to get art to hang on their wall. Good stuff too, their library's got a good curator.

  • Reminds me of that parable of that person who was feeding a bird outside their office window every day, and although they didn't know it, they themselves were benefiting from opening the window and getting fresh air. Like, maybe the human who made this post would have gone part deaf if he'd left the TV on so loud.

  • I dunno fam, I wouldn't mess with someone else's tool box without their permission, no matter what our relationship...

  • Even in a cafe, you need one customer on top of the waiter

oh wow I need to go to fancier cafes... where I'm at there's just a counter where you get your stuff and then you go to your table...

OK maybe a better analogy is an "open to the public" picnic. Some people put blankets out and are sharing from their baskets. If they're the only person sharing, everybody gets bored. But you can still have a good interaction if 3-4 people are sharing per blanket.

  • Well, it's interesting to see how it happened. @jilanico@lemmy.world was posting once every couple of weeks or so, then @TehBamski@lemmy.world make 3 posts over the last week, then @BlueEther@no.lastname.nz and I jumped in with one post each.

Dunno if it'll last or not (personally I'm only good for 1-2 posts a month max) but my current hypothesis is that you need 2-3 core posters and a handful of occasional non-core (ideally non-mod) posters to show that others are welcome.

There's also a skill in making posts that encourage discussion... instead of just providing content to consume mindlessly... I don't know how to do that very well yet tho...
