    This has apparently been going on for years. Neither side is objecting to the burdens on speech, just whether or not the corporations need to make their algorithms not harmful. We’ve been spared by a dumb conflict but large bipartisan majorities are dead set on fucking up Internet freedom “for the children” (of simultaneously lazy and overbearing parents).

      They want to be able to send police to your home for saying something about them online. This was always the case. In the UK, people get handed defamation notices left and right over internet speech.
