It’s not even the EV’s as much as the electric scooters and electric bikes. There are 100’s millions of scooters in China but all electric so no pollution.

I went on holiday to Thailand and got a shock from all the noise and air pollution caused by the normal scooters in Bangkok.

I hope to see this happen in my area. The kind of emissions I’m stuck having to breathe in, especially while I’m walking on a sidewalk next to a main road, is awful. Unfortunately, it’s going to take much longer for the switch to happen here.

Are we sure they aren’t just weening off the genocide in Xinjiang and need an excuse for the change in demographic trends?

The air quality can be independently verified pretty easily, and we know that lower pollution reduces deaths… so while your comment is trying to get a different point, it’s not particularly good at doing so.

If my comment upsets you then it was intended to: fuck China. If they want this research to have legitimacy they should put the researchers’ or institution’s name in the headline instead of China.

Seeing as China takes ethnic and genetic registration pretty seriously, no?

Wow, any particular reason you have such a raging hate honer?

Not to mention, the Xinjiang part of this argument doesn’t really make sense either. The Xinjiang stuff does not involve direct death (besides conditions being as horrible as prison) so that it is far worse than death: it kills the culture, is suspected of forcing organ donations, and institutes sterilization. Unfortunately for the Uyghurs, death is not involved here.

The same could be said about Auschwitz right up until the Allies breached its gates and found the skeletons. People (even Jews) believed it was just an isolated Jewish living community where they’d have a happy life separated from the “Aryan Race”.

source? i’m seeing that straight-to-death was known since 1940 (mere months after Auschwitz was built), the polish government published the conditions in 1942, and the ICEC knew by 1943. through the same ways we knew about Auschwitz is how we have reports from Uyghur and none of them mention Auschwitz mass-killings. we can recognize atrocities without said atrocities being as bad as Auschwitz

Oh it involves some amount of dorect death but actually the discussion is about birth rates.

As a whole it is not a serious comment claiming China is fudging nunbers, just sharing a reminder in case anybody almost saw China in a positive light for a moment.

it’s hard to tell whether you’re serious over text. next time, you could use tone indicators or an explanation to clarify a meaning!
