A long while ago I heard of an Asian country, I think it was Japan, that could make you disappear. Is this actually possible? And no they do not murder you.

Are you talking about the right to be forgotten or the subculture where people pull out from society as much possible?

You can disappear anywhere with the right price and connections. The bigger issue is staying off-grid.

Yes I read about this as well. https://japandaily.jp/the-johatsu-japans-evaporated-people-who-vanish-without-a-trace/
Perhaps that’s what you’re thinking of? I don’t know about the accuracy of it.

What do you mean by “make you disappear”? Sounds a bit bs to me.

Sounds like you’re talking about Jouhatsu? The companies helping them are called yonigeya.

NK would make sense but from the way the post is worded I assume it’s supposed to be a more normal country like china, japan, etc.

Maybe you’re thinking about the Man from Taured?

a Caucasian man was arrested at the airport upon entering Japan because they couldn’t classify his passport and didn’t know the issuing country.

When he is shown a map so he can tell where he is from, he points to Andorra and calls it “Taured”. He cannot understand why no one knows about this country that, according to him, has existed for 1,000 years.

He is taken to a hotel and two police officers guard his room while the case is further investigated. When you go to visit him again, the room is empty and there is no trace of the man from Taured. Did he come from a parallel universe?

This is translated from the German podcast summary. Wikipedia displays it slightly differently:
