Amazingly, all it would take for America to have safe-to-eat cookie dough would be to stop pressure washing the fucking eggs. Does America love pressure-washing eggs more than eating cookie dough? Seems so!
Its the raw flour too.
In fact it’s almost entirely the flour. Raw eggs are pretty safe these days

My mum used to let me eat raw cake batter out of the bowl, because it was safe in the UK. Maybe it wasn’t as safe as she thought, and I just lucked into never getting salmonella 😬
Pillsbury now sells edible raw cookie dough. (That’s safe to eat, I mean)
Wouldn’t this be the USDA?
The Department of Agriculture’s job is to promote agriculture not health. That’s why the food pyramid has little bearing on what is actually healthy to eat, it was designed originally to promote eating things grown in the US. They probably only care about how you eat the raw flour in so far as not dying long enough to eat more later.
The FDA or CDC would be far more interested in the spread of infections.
