While it is sad to see a studio doing AA RPG shut down, I think Greedfall 2 has been kicking around expos for like 3 years and all the coverage of the game has been tepid at best. I’m unsurprised to hear this rumor.

I don’t usually care about the coverage tbh, as reviewers and previewers are often wrong and/or disagree with my personal tastes.

I based my expectations on having played a very early release version (just the tutorial and the prologue) of the game and loving the shit out of it and wanting more.

just the tutorial and the prologue

Cyberpunk did the same, and the released game was a fucking disaster.

Only for the first several months 😄

To be fair, though, once they got their shit together and ironed all the egregious bugs that came from releasing it long before it was ready, it became one of the best games ever IMO.

I’m not talking about quality, I’m talking about media presence. Shite games are released all the time, but this game wasn’t exciting enough people. And Spiders isn’t big enough to just absorb “no press” and “low expectations” to continue working on a game that probably won’t recoup costs.

It’s a lot easier to make a small slice good than the full product. I’m also not surprised by this, even if something they showed was great.
