China is one of the oldest civilisations and has so much history and culture to offer. You can be born and raised in China and still not have seen it all.

same for the U.S. but with the addendum of “but why would you want to?”

Note that most countries can travel visa free to China for upto 30 days. It includes all European countries as well as South America, Canada and middle east.

Of course the USA is excluded for so many obvious reasons.

Funnily enough, the only time I’ve experienced significant air pollution on our recent trips to China were due the sheer amount of fireworks they set off for the Lunar New Year celebrations.

It was hilarious (in an absurdist sense) to watch the air quality index drop so quickly in real time!

I was in Malaysia for the Chinese new year, and can confirm there are some wild fireworks. I managed to get some nice shots too.

IKR! It’s ridiculous how much of a fireworks display even the smaller cities put on, it literally puts our (Australia’s NYE) fireworks shows to shame.

Yeah, it was quite the experience. Literally the whole town was in a haze, and it went on for a while too. Was pretty awesome overall. Probably best fireworks display I’ve seen ever. And it’s really cool how it’s not really organized in any way. People just get their own and then launch them all together.

It’s still not great. Chongqing, Urumqi (during winter), Guangzhou, all activate my allergies really badly. Kunming and Harbin had much better air. Shenzhen was fine, despite being so close to Guangzhou
