I don’t have a Reddit account. Was searching for something related to astrophotography, clicked a link to go to Reddit, not only did I not go to the subreddit post as it dropped me to whatever the fuck the front page is, but it was pretty adamant that I use the app cuz fuck you for using a website I guess.
I browse maybe once a week for a few minutes, but I will never be going back now so thanks to whatever bean counter or engagement coordinator got me to finally quit going.
Try using old.reddit.com
For now, as far as I know old.reddit.com still works to bypass this
I ended up using that. It worked perfectly fine. I kept it open on my phone for several minutes and I didn’t get that pop up so maybe that will be left alone. I wonder how long it continues to be left alone.
It’s like I told someone else I’m not all that bothered by it so maybe I’m not the targeted market or something, buts it comes across as a pretty big middle finger to its roots of existing as a webpage about webpages more or less. I’ve talked more about Reddit than I really intended to at this point lol
Old will work indefinitely as long as you don’t click a hyperlink. You’ll just be to re-add the old. Subdomain.
Some browsers have settings to acces desktop version of sites
Yeah that’s what I checked first off. It’s off.
Tried on Safari and Firefox, it seems to be hit or miss - sometimes I can scroll the browser even with that there, sometimes it makes the page non responsive. Once, I tapped “get the Reddit app” and when it took me to App Store I just hit the back button to go back to Safari, and I got a little pop up something to the effect of “that didn’t take you where you wanted to go” and I had to click OK on a pop up, then the webpage came back, along w the banner there.
I think it’s pretty bold choice given Reddit being a web page and all but at the end of it, I’m not all that worried about it so maybe I’m not their target market anymore.
It’s been around for a long time.
Tip is to use either old.reddit.com or desktop mode in a browser that supports it (such as firefox)
Press ctrl+w to make reddit Work /s
Funny this hasn’t happened to me in a while. But I use fire fox on mobile with ublock.
i do too but it just started happening to me. Using desktop mode or old.reddit.com still works
use red.artemislena.eu or some other redlib instance.
Thanks. I didn’t even know that one existed
