This… was a lot of feathers.
Plus - you have now mastered the art of drawing feathers
Con - you now have visceral hate of drawing feathers
Anyway, great picture!
Feathered things I won’t be drawing for a while: penguins, parrots, pigeons, improvised flying escape machines, parakeets…
…Biblically accurate angels…
A pillow fight featuring feather pillows.
Dark, and extremely clever with the sun at the very center, casting father and son into shadow
Thank you! Most depictions of this story show the flight and fall. I thought it would be interesting to show the quiet moment before disaster. I’m happy with how it came out!
Absolutely love it! I think this might be my new favourite of yours.
Thank you so much! This is the best picture I’ve drawn and I’m super proud of it.

Thank you!
“Now cover yourself in wax and wait for me on the balcony”
Hahaha!
Painstakingly detailed btw, kudos to your patience and diligence, and I love the perspective
Very evocative scene! Lovw the composition and the perspective looks awesome :)
Thank you! :)
Stunning composition, I can’t stop looking at it. What an achingly human story you’ve told here.
What a wonderful thing to read – thank you so much!
Is there a reference piece or something that inspired you, or was it your idea to compose it this way?
Well, that’s sincerely amazing to me, for real this is moving.
The way it draws the eye from puzzling over the close perspective of the subject that crowds the frame, to the pair beneath, - “oh. They made that?”
Eye stays there for a moment…then naturally goes to the sunrise behind, and -
Slams into the contrast between the typical symbol of hope and renewal, vs what we suddenly know about what’s to come. And the whole tragedy unfolds.

And then, if you’re old, all the stories with the people in your own life that relate in their various ways come along for the ride 😅
It’s really delicious, exquisite, I’ve been returning to it all day🤌
[Edit - title did help, to be clear, just the right “clue” to set the stage / prime the experience]
[Edit edit - honestly I felt I ought to cut myself off at some point, but eh, fuck that. To continue - post-understanding and connecting the story, the way the wings loom - the way “human artifice” is presented as the actual primary subject (via the lacing), the way it appears higher than the sun (“rival” to human artifice and its accompanying hubris, not per se to humans), the expressions on the traditional “subjects”, their clear place, as individuals, both between and beneath the mega sized “true subjects”. Okay that’s most of it.]
[Edit edit edit - YOU SUNUVA their shadows form the head of the imagined bird?!?! No wonder it flows like that. I’m turning my phone off, this is outta control lmao]
Daedalus and Icarus?
Correct!
So cool.
Thank you!
