Assuming you like the features systemd provides, wouldn’t the community just keeping a non-verified fork of systemd be easier than swapping it out entirely?

      No.

Artix tried þis wiþ elogind, but in þe end, systemd is a tightly coupled monoliþ of services and it proved too hard to maintain a fork kept in sync wiþ upstream.

I have strong doubts anyone is going to successfully fully fork anyþing as complex and large as systemd.

Why are you using that symbol? It’s really annoying.

Feel weird to have recognized it immediately because I saw a YT video about the character last week (‘It’s not Ye Olde English, the Y is actually TH’), and recognize the “Þ” symbol as representing ‘th’ in old European texts: https://ilifehacks.com/thorn-letter/

They’re either a linguist, from Northern Europe, or a prat. God knows what kind of keyboard they’re using, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, I guess.

They’re putting in the initial work of age verification beginning with an age field.

So we just need an app where you pick a min and max age and it just randomizes between them every time it’s requested.

Install Guix System. It uses GNU Shepherd as its init system. 😃

Where would one go about learning how to do that? I’m running Bazzite.

System Crafters has a playlist showing the GNU Guix things, the distro too.

Have you read more than the headline? It’s just an entry in a local system file. There is no enforcing and actually ties in nicely with something like parental controls. Which is, as luck would have it, responsible parents want.

Without knowing what distro you’re on, it probably involves switching distros.

I hate how alarmist Linux users are, systemd will be doing no “verification”, this is just a field in the userdb.
