  • I'd recommend Matrix. It's not perfect, but I dislike the alternatives more. Btw if you decide to give it a try, don't use matrix.org, it's too large of an instance which makes it slow and kind of ruins the decentralization aspect of it. tchncs.de seems like a good choice. I'd also love to give anyone in need of a matrix server a registration token, though registrations are not open on gregtech.eu, so contact me for a key if you'd like.

  • This is an example of survivorship bias, you only notice the cat toys because they got lost in hard-to-access places. The cat also can't get it out of there on its own, so if it gets stuck there just once, it stays there.

  • I use Cryptomator connected to an Exoscale S3 bucket. It's not particularly convenient, but it's very cheap and I use it just for photo backup anyway.

  • In this hypothetical scenario, we can't possibly know what this external universe looks like. It could be entirely different from ours in terms of physics, so we may well be living in a simulation. I personally don't care because it doesn't affect me at all.
