I agree that this new game doesn’t appear to have the right tone, but I think you fundamentally misunderstood the game if you think Disco Elysium was a serious game first and foremost. Did we play the same game?

It’s serious game that is funny vs. funny game that is serious

Disco Elysium had funny clothes. Remember the frog hat? Good times, time to include a LARGER and WACKIER hat!

Ahh and remember the animations like Harry falling flat on his ass trying to punch out the small child that is dogwalking him? Well what if he got his hand stuck in a BOAR ASS and got DRAGGED OFF!

I hope you get my problem here. I think the first one is really hard to do and you could reasonably make a pretty good discolike that starts out with being funny - if you played the Esoteric Ebb demo that seems to be what’s happening there and that demo was very promising.

I just don’t think if what you take away from DE for a sequel is that it’s first and foremost a funny game so we should probably make it even funnier now is going to work.

The premise of the game is that you have a hangover so bad that you lost your memory. A hangover so bad that it can kill you as your decision in the game. And your second if you reach for your tie. It’s like trying to argue that Waiting for Godot is primarily a drama. The drama stems from the absurdity of the world and premise.
