one ways? what the fuck? how the hell do one way streets prevent foot traffic for businesses? what?
There are 2 kinds of one-way streets. One kind is one-way because that’s all it has space for, there’s nothing wrong with this.
The other kind is when a city converts a two-way to a one-way, usually bifurcating a major street into two major streets. Cities do this to pad the metric of traffic throughput, because more cars equals more activer. There’s only one way to look to cross the street, but everything is moving faster, with more lanes of traffic for each direction. What was once one or two lanes in 2 directions becomes two or four lanes in 1 direction. It shuttles cars past at higher speeds and is not meant to be stopped on.
