Sony’s got to put that PlayStation network requirement in first.
If they are waiting for the next tv season to release the remaster, that makes lots of business sense. build hype, build demand, then do a re-release.
If they use it for polish too then that’s fine by me. Just don’t repeat the mess of the Part 1 port.
Is the port of the first one better now? Last I looked they didn’t improve much.
Last time I tried it ran pretty well but I have put off a proper playthrough for the moment, so I can’t speak for potential issues down the line.
I don’t get it personally. After experiencing the story in the tv series, I lost interest in playing the games
I would say because it does not use it’s medium very well. It’s more like a playable movie, while videogames can be so much more than that.
This was exactly my first thought as well and I agree it is good business sense. I am in ok with console versions coming out first and getting the kinks out before PC.
Would it be great to do all at the same time? Yeah, but I would rather not deal with another CP2077-like release where it is out on everything and buggy on everything.
And it will be riddled with frame pacing issues at launch still. Haha
YES. PLEASE use that time to optimize.
Hopefully Last of Us Part II shares enough of a code base with the PC version of the Part I remaster.
They did use the same engine for Part 1 so a lot of the tweaks should likely be transferable. But I rather have them take their time for a polished release too. The Part 1 port was a hot mess and took several months to get in an adequate state.
Did they fix part 1?
Good question. Having not played the PC port myself, I only know that it was addressed by the studio (and/or publisher?), and that people stopped talking about it after a couple months. I personally concluded that the game must’ve been fixed to some degree.
Looks like they updated it but it requires a really fancy PC to play according to a steam discussion I found https://steamcommunity.com/app/1888930/discussions/0/6678353284412255093/#c6678353521951255667
Looks like it runs at 30fps on steam deck also https://www.protondb.com/app/1888930?device=steamDeck
So it should launch as good as a modern game 7 months post launch. I’m not even going to think it will be a proper launch, but I’ll begrudgingly accept a minimum of the quality of a modern game 7 months after they’ve had time to fix issues at launch.
Makes sense. They want to make PS launch exclusives feel like exclusives as much as possible. The longer the delay the better (for them).
It’s the PC players who aren’t ready for this game!
Ha, I’ve been ready. Been ignoring it since before it was even announced. I’m a god damn natural.
