The Base
Al-Qaeda, Arabic for “the Base,” is an international terrorist network founded by Osama bin Laden in the late 1980s.
Chat, am I having Deja Vu?
In April, the Base started waging what it described as an insurgency to establish an all-white ethnostate in the western Ukrainian oblast of Zakarpattia.
This is what has me confused. I was under the impression that the Ukrainian conflict, perhaps I am oversimplifying, was between the Eastern part of Ukraine which has a Russian speaking minority, and a Western, Ukranian speaking majority. The Right Sector, as I understand it was mostly associated with the Western Ukranian faction and was insanely right wing, including actual Nazis.
So, I find it very unusual that the media is claiming that a separatist group located in Western Ukraine that is trying to establish a white ethnostate, is associated with Russia.
Ideologically, it just sounds more like the Western Ukrainian faction is splitting into even more insane right wing factions.
Russia would obviously benefit from this, but ideologically this doesn’t line up with at least what’s going on in Eastern Ukraine.
Although I am not well informed on this conflict
Your understanding is generally correct, and basically they’re trying to create a narrative that it’s Russia’s fault somehow because most of the readers aren’t informed enough to ask these questions.
Putin is responsible for Ukrainian ethnonationalism (apparently) just like he’s responsible for racial tension in the US.
I extremely confused.
The base US-founded and the American founder, Rinaldo Nazzaro, who is a former Pentagon contractor with the US special forces, has suspicious connections with Russia.
The rule of western media is that if something negative needs to be reported about Ukraine then it has to be framed as Russia’s fault. It doesn’t need to make sense.
Nazis trying to out Nazi the other Nazis? Interesting
