President Volodymyr Zelensky left the White House early without signing a mineral deal with the United States following a heated exchange with President Donald Trump on Feb. 28.

Zelensky departed in his motorcade around 1:45 p.m. local time, without holding a joint news conference scheduled for later in the day, after the two leaders got into a heated argument while speaking with journalists in the Oval Office.

. . .

CNN reported that following the exchange, Zelensky and Trump left to separate rooms, with the Ukrainian delegation wanting to continue talks with the Trump administration.

Trump later ordered his officials to tell the Ukrainian officials to leave the White House, despite protest from the Ukrainian delegation.

He won the election. He destroyed the Democrats. More than half the country voted for him. This is what they wanted. You might not like it but you’re gonna have to accept that even though the majority of Lemmy and Reddit agree with you, you’re still the minority compared to the rest of the country. You’re telling us to fight back against this president that you don’t like. Be the change you want to see. Change the minds of everyone around you.

That’s not an argument dipshit hit us with your competent plan to turn this around and we’ll join behind you but all you’ve offered is derision and haughty quips.

That’s not for me to say, I’ve never been to the US (fortunately). But I can think of a few option.

Massive strikes, for weeks. Boycots. Protests. Violence. Courage.

I’m portuguese. Go check our revolution in 1974, my father was part of it. It is possible if you want, people actually have the power.

Maybe start trying instead of insulting and being defensive. Like I care if you offend me on the internet.

That’s an actual argument though not at all a plan, yes we all hope things turn around, talking shit on the Internet from your high horse isn’t productive and you’re more likely to turn people off of what you’re saying then turn them onto it.

Maybe start trying instead of insulting and being defensive.

I didn’t stay the insulting and offensive behavior, you did.

Like I care if you offend me on the internet.

You can be high horse javi or you can be crybaby carl, it’s very weird to try to be both.

Now let’s look into the Portuguese revolution there’s been like 6 and mmm maybe 4 in the last hundred or so years. Let’s give you the benefit of a doubt and say you might be old enough your parent was in either the 1910 or 1974 revolution.

74 also called the carnation revolution, mostly non violent which is kinda dope. Any idea where they got the carnation idea? I do, it was the 1967 March on the Pentagon and one of the most famous protest photos of all time. Now this sounds great but it’s a bit hidden behind the two decades of colonial civil war prior to the revolution. So we’re exactly 19 years and like 320 days ahead of that schedule.

Let’s take a look at 1910, again the prelude being colonial civil war and this time one they lost and were made to retreat by the English in 1890. So that’s 30 years of strife and internal wars so again we’re 29 years and about 320 days ahead of schedule on that one too.

Tell me how we speed run this thing since we don’t have colonies to send into civil war che.

Hey, you win. I’m not discussing the history of my country with you. You’re clearly very smart, very good at checking Wikipedia.

That point where you believe the “Carnation idea” came from the US is so american - you guys really think you’re the center of the world. Get your facts straight, Wikipedia sometimes isn’t enough. In case you’re interested, the lady who sold the first carnation flowers (that were then used, reminding of your 67 thing) probably didn’t even know how to read, it was an organic movement. She died this year, in case you wanna read about her. Of course, we gotta thank the US, because our revolution wouldn’t have happened if we couldn’t insipire ourselves on the almighty godly smart Americans.

My father participated, yes - I don’t care if you believe it or not, he was 20 at the time. He was sent to the TV Station near Porto to avoid it being taken over by the government (propaganda). He had just returned from a war he didn’t want to fight against the liberation movement of the colonies, in Mozambique.

Just sit and wait for the next elections that might never come. And in the meanwhile, come here and insult people who are scared of what your country might do to Europe.

I’m out mate. A bit of humbleness would do you good, but I’m afraid your head is too deep in the sand for you to realize that. No point answering cause you’ll be left alone.

Good thing you don’t need to read to understand a photograph that was literally everywhere because of how powerful it was.

Again, not helpful just preachy. Your country had civil war or colonial uprising for 50 out of a hundred years. We all have our issues and we’re trying to solve them, this high horsed bullshit really isn’t helping anything. You don’t have any actual ideas about how to solve it you just have haughty quips and weird self righteousness.

No one asked you to be in mate. As it would you, help out instead of talking shit.

That’s all they have, They sit behind a keyboard raging at the world because things aren’t the way they want. All that energy would be better placed in looking for solutions.

The Democrats destroyed themselves. Constructed opposition at best. Shamefully inept at worst.
