I stayed in Folsom, CA for work. One morning I woke up to air raid sirens. Went to the front desk with a handful of other guests. It was a training drill for evacuating Sacramento, downstream. The front desk said over half a million people would just be wiped out. All the guests let out a collective Bill and Ted “woah”.
I grew up in Sacramento and never heard of this. Probably for the best.

According to this, those Sacramento sirens were mostly disconnected in 2007 as cell phones replaced them for civil alert purposes, but in 2019, they connected and activated one again to get a recording for some kid in Oklahoma who’s into sirens.
This was way before 2007. I’m glad they stopped creating a public panic for visitors 🤣
Repairing dams is socialism and we can’t have socialism. /s
