Watch a spooky movie and have trouble sleeping? Hear a noise and freeze in terror? See a dark shape shifting in the corner of your room?

All of its is now probably the cat. What goes bump in the night? My cat patrolling and getting ready to poke me in the side under the covers. What shifts in the corner of my vision? My cat searching for a stray cable to eat at 2am or preparing to dive bomb me right in the nuts from the window.

preparing to dive bomb me right in the nuts from the window.

Ngl this is devious from cats. They must know.

Edit: I started to draft this before I saw that soyaEnjoyer had suggested the same thing!

My cat searching for a stray cable to eat at 2am

Just a PSA related to this. If there’s an issue with a cat chewing on cables, it’s probably a good idea to address it somehow. I knew a cat at a local shelter that was missing half its upper lip due to shorting an electric cord by chewing on it. These types of cord covers have worked well in my experience to cover exposed cables:

They sell them in various diameters and I’ve also found them in white before.

ahhh they’re such dear little friends :)

those flexible plastic cable sleeve things - they look like a corrugated tube with a cut along the length - worked well for protecting exposed cables from my kitty when she was little. she grew out of cable chewing eventually, though.

I gave the cat plastic drinking straws to chew on and it was effectively distracting from cables. But soon no drink was safe from the cat, who coveted all straws. She thought nothing of a running leap from across the room to grab it in a flash, the beverage flying in the opposite direction helping to secure her safe exit, distracting everyone with chaos while she pranced off to enjoy her prize.

yes, but that’s why the second part of the horror story goes “and then you rolled over and your cat was already there”
