That’s not shroedinger, that’s just logic. Hard concept for some people on here, it seems. For how well you understand right wing politics and tactics, it’s suprising you believe that the “left” wing would be much different.

Let’s say I need 51% of people to vote for me. I can get 41% with all the standard talking points of making things slightly less shitty. 10% I could get by shouting about the genocide in Gaza, but then I’d LOSE some from the 41%, because “I’m too extreme”. In this scenario, the leftists are responsible, AND not significant enough to pander to.

When a nazi sees a conservative and a democrat on the ballot, do you think he doesn’t vote, because the conservative didn’t call for the gassing of Jews?

Are you trying to say the GOP doesn’t pander to Nazis? Musk literally did the Nazi salute in front of them and they defended him. Meanwhile the dems are tripping over themselves to condemn Hasan Piker

That’s because a one dimensional metric is not enough to distinguish real distinct valid political beliefs. The actual division you have is really more like shaped by the money trail, the ignorant and fascists pandered to just to subvert the system and those who at the very least have to go the extra steps to play nice with the system because their votes are neither ignorant nor fascists, and there’s plenty of oligarchs playing both sides.

Recently, brain drain from technology and far more effective propaganda campaigns that more effectively promote disenfranchisement from the educated have made one of these far more effective than the other.

Most people are completely uninformed and just think Republicans = better economy. In the last election the people who sat out or voted 3rd party caused all of this with Trump, because apparently ruin all research including children’s cancer research, gutting USAID, removing environmental protections and ruining the world while getting into 4 wars, while supporting Israel, is not worth voting for someone who supports Israel. Anyone who didn’t vote in 2024 is in great part responsible for all the deaths in ukraine as well.

Thought I was gonna get in before the “my candidate was imperfect for me so I didn’t vote so fuck everyone else” people.

      Too late!

Oh good thing we have Trump now.

          Looks at reality you created

Still genocide, but now it’s a regional war with Iran and people are talking about ethnically cleansing Gaza so Trump can build the “Riviera of the Middle East.” Good going. You really stopped that genocide by electing people who hate Muslims.

What would it take for you to admit your decision was stupid? If Trump drops a nuke oh Tehran, would that do it?

Why is this your reaction to my comment calling out someone describing a genocide as “imperfect”?

You are literally the only new account I’ve seen recently that isn’t actively trying to discourage people from voting. Good on you. For real it’s like Lemmy is allergic to the concept that they should fuckin vote and if they don’t vote, they’re still responsible for who wins by not voting. Fuck. Sorry, the discourse here is fucking infuriating and I’m drunk, and you’re a breath of fresh air.

Thanks every bit of encouragement helps when I’m wading through this echo chamber of ineffective commies and bots. I got banned from reddit for similar. I think the fascists are taking over the communities of naive lefties and turning them against the DNC so they can consolidate power. To be clear: I’m not a Democrat and I don’t particularly like the Democratic Party, but incremental change isn’t the same as Literal Fucking Fascism. If we can oust Democrats in primaries, we should. If we can’t, we should vote for the next best thing. Or sometimes the next not-worst thing. It’s not a hard concept.

Cheers I took the week off to prep for a big social event so I’ll have an IPA in your honor!
