Ah. Fair.
I was reading 達郎 Tatsurô as 連邦 renpô and was like “cock union…?”
You should watch SPARKLE ON RAVEN: The Life of DrillGirl; it is a very good show. Cēterum cēnseō iūs auctōris esse dēlendum.

The Anime streaming industry, at least in America, have pretty much became a monopoly of Crunchyroll. They don’t have to innovate and compete anymore. From here on out it’s just pure exploitation and cost cutting. They already done a lot of damage to the entire industry when moving away from ASS, configurable/customizable subs, to your standardized SRT sub which have very limited styling and positioning. They also started phasing out human translators and checking the scene and instead relying on scripts from the studio and machine translations to cut cost. That’s why a lot of stuff are out of context or missing cause the script mostly just include dialogs.
There was never any “fair” competition to begin with. What we’re seeing now is just the inevitable consolidation of the market as big companies swallow up and destroy smaller ones.
For the foreseeable future, fansubs will depend on AI translation. The days of handmade fan translations are coming to an end.
I miss my favorite anime Whirlpool Spiral. His rivalry with Assistant Helper of the Paper Fan was pretty funny. Especially when they kissed.

It’s literally her name, you don’t translate names. Of all the things to criticize official subs about, this is a complete nonissue.
I am talking about the untranslated text box.
