    Source?

I have seen zero credible sources for this specific claim of Holocaust denial. The closest I’ve found is that she argued that trans people weren’t the first group targeted by the Nazis. (Not denying that they were targeted. Just disputing that they were first.) That’s not the same as “Holocaust denial.”

I already know she’s a bad person who uses her celebrity to spread hate and spends her time and money trying to further oppress some of the most marginalized people in the world. We can dislike her for those very real reasons without spreading false stories about her.

jk rowling is definitely the type of person who will argue the holocaust didn’t exist with george takei, who was literally in concentration camps during ww2.

I’m not following the logic here. I mean, he was in American concentration camps - not sure how that’s relevant to claims about what the Nazis did. I know he’s right, but it’s not like he was there or anything.

Okay but, let’s be fair, not knowing the Nazis burned books on trans healthcare and research is not the same as denying the holocaust.

I’m not saying she hasn’t denied the holocaust. I’m just saying this isn’t an example of that.

Shes denying part of the holocaust. Whether that be from ignorance or otherwise idk and idc. Denying part of the holocaust is definitionally holocaust denial. Thats litterally the defining trait of the word

Denying part of the holocaust is definitionally holocaust denial.

It really isn’t “definitionally” Holocaust denial. “Holocaust denial” as a linguist concept as understood by most people has nothing at all to do with denying the burning of trans literature.

“Deniers assert that the Holocaust is a fabrication or exaggeration,[3][4][5]making one or more of the following false claims:”

and then an incomplete list of holocaust denialist claims. Thats from your own link

J K Rowling is claiming the holocaust is exaggereted in them tweets, therefore: denying part of the holocaust as defined by the above.

and holocaust denial is an academic term with a pretty precise definition, as much as it is a colloqial one.

There’s also a difference between not knowing something and implying that something is a lie (and sending that implication out to her millions of Twitter followers).

Oh absolutely, I agree 100%. All I’m saying is that this wasn’t an example of holocaust denial. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t ignorant and shitty.
