Yeah, the layout makes it kinda square. I almost think you’d be better off with 9 players, in a 3x3.

I did the math, this layout gives an 8:9 aspect ratio, more tall than wide, which feels… wrong. 3x3 would maintain a 16:9 aspect ratio. Although you’d still need a pretty massive TV to make it work lol. I’m also curious what the resolution is with 8 players, if you’d even want to play this on a 100-inch plus screen to get a decent size.

Reminds me of N64 Mario Kart. Seems fun

Edit: for the younger ones, N64 Mario Kart was just 4 players, it’s just back then the displays weren’t widescreen, they were 4:3

So 4 player mode looked like this 8 player mode if you chop the screen display in half sort of

Then the game would be prepared for that aspect ratio, with sharper curves to better see the game. MK8 has long curves for longer drifting which makes it more difficult to see with 8:9 ratio (16/4:9/2).

I saw pictures of it, and I don’t think my 75" TV is large enough for that. But absolutely amazing that they added it, yes.

I thought 4-player was already making it a bit difficult to see where you’re going… 8 must be complete chaos.

I wonder how it runs though. Even on Switch MK8 4-player’s framerate is a bit subpar, despite culling a bit of scenery and such.

Pretty cool to see them still supporting this game even after the release of World. I’ll probably go back to it as well, as while World is nice, MK8 just has the better track design.

I actually kinda dislike World. The online play is so much more difficult, it feels disproportionate in how it punishes or assists.

I also prefer MK8, but the visuals of World are noticeably better. I’ll have to see how much this update improves 8.

I struggle to appreciate visual upgrades past what the switch or ps4 provides, so happy to play older games and nice that they get updates regardless

The tech in World is better, but where it really shines is the art style imo. The animations especially are incredibly good. MK8D is really good visually too, but after playing World it feels almost plain.

Can anyone who tested these recent patches for MK8D, Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Pokemon Champions confirm if the framerate has been updated to 60 fps as well? Or is it just the resolution?
