This excuses piracy.
And whenever I want to pay for a game, I will do it through GOG.
Hard to even want to support gog, with the Nazi stunt
What did I miss? 😳

Sent out very Nazi symbology
Got feedback from German qa that it was Nazi symbology

Stuff like this drives the motivation behind console modders.
Then their ‘Buy’ and ‘Purchase’ buttons are false advertising. ‘Rent’ is the word they’re looking for.
Oh no, how will this affect my offline-PS3 and it’s offline games?? :o
If the button said “Buy” or “Purchase”, ownership of that item is transferred (obviously not the IP itself). After you buy it, the supreme court has weighed in that you can make your own backups of “media” previously so Sony can fuck right off.
SCOTUS has endorsed the terms and conditions they make you sign and allowed them to do things like making you waive your right to sue and instead use binding arbitration of their choosing, and making you agree to not actually own this as such.
What you say was true 26 years ago or more, it’s not now. We are well on to our way of owning nothing and renting everything we own in truth even if not in law.
True, but while I have access to something I back it up by nature. They can probably take it off of something they can access but those devices don’t have access to my whole network so I’m gonna stick with my original thought, Sony can fuck right off.
(Really good points though)
Then, I purchase no games, which I cannot own anyway. Good riddance. I stopped gaming pretty much all the time.
Remind me to pirate sony games.
If labeling buttons “buy” is illegal when it’s not buying to own but subscriptions, “pre-order” should be illegal too. “Ordering a license” doesn’t make much sense between expectation and differentiation to (owning) products.
If buttons are labeled “Rent” and “Schedule Rent”, do you think it would have an impact? Significant impact?
This is why PC gaming is more superior to home gaming consoles that are riddled with DRM. At least you own digital copies of games that you buy on there.
Only true on DRM free marketplaces. Nearly only GOG. Not Steam - you are very much at the mercy of their TOS, it’s just a better TOS. But we shouldn’t rely on merciful kings.
I bought the first Queen album on vinyl. Then 8-track. Then cassette. Then compact disc. I finally pirated the digital version. I owned every piece of media that the album came on with the exception of the pirated copy (which I could have digitized from my compact disc). In not one case has a company ever came into my home and said “You have to give that back, but no refund though”. This makes no sense.
Aaarrrrggghhhh!
I stopped buying consoles years ago but Sony can gargle my balls with choco milk
This matches my experience exactly.
Do players even own PlayStation consoles? Sony arbitrarily restrict what operating system run on hardware people buy from them.
