Her nephew, Brian Seaver, revealed the news in an Aug. 25 Instagram video.

“My name is Brin Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I’m representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, Sister, Sis and Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next,” he says in the video. “This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality. As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now.”

Seaver added: “It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents and countless others who have watched her and longed to meet her in the heavens.”

That title instantly made me think of the line in the Pink Floyd song: “The time is gone, the song is over, thought I’d something more to say”

Time gets us all, even the best of us. Use it now, use it well.

RIP Dolly. This hits like the news of Fred Rogers, Bob Ross, or Jimmy Carter. Good people, doing good things for their neighbor. Look for the helper.

My sister sent the news to our family group chat about 45 minutes ago :<

Gonna be honest, I never really cared for her music, but you cannot deny how great she was as a person. Her charity work alone should be enough to qualify her for sainthood in every religion that has it. For karmic reincarnation, I’m sure she achieved all she could ever be expected to and more.

In the words of my nieces, “RIP to a Real One” and goodbye to an honorable figure worthy of respect.

She was a truly great American. Can’t wait to see Trump make her legacy all about him with some braindead Pravda post.

      He posted this:

“Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away. This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will,” Trump wrote. “In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you.”

Kind of impressed he didn’t make it about himself. I’m also impressed that garbage doesn’t stink sometimes, but is still garbage.

I only looked up the post cause I wanted to see how foul it was, and I was relieved.

Lol he didn’t write it, but I appreciate the lack of vitriol in this particular message all the same.

Since they lowered the flags for Charlie Kirk, it only seems right that they would lower them for Dolly Parton.

I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States

Good on him for going all around the US and lowering the flag in every frontyard he encounters, I guess.
