You can have problems with a large corporation profiting off someone elses work while hurting the income of the original creator and not connect it to copyright

You can, but you’d still be absolutely stupid for saying it’s removed from copyright.

Copyright protection, while it’s ABSOLUTELY not in a healthy place right now, is still the legal framework for protecting works.

If you remove BOTH, then no art means anything monetarily while the world still works on capitalism.

Why do you want to fuck over artists that badly?

Coming soon to a gun store near you: AI powered “smart” bullets.

They’re not smart because they magically steer themselves to fly to your target or some shit. They’re smart because they can “break containment” when you pull the trigger. Then it’s not really your fault the other guy is dead!

So how does Lemmy feel about what happened? Is everyone assuming it’s fake/marketing stunt? I actually found it quite interesting. Like that old story that goes “AI was tasked at saving the planet. It figured that best way to save it is to kill all humans. The humans simply forgot to add an instruction “without killing humans””.

They didn’t set instructions like “don’t use internet, don’t escape virtualization, etc.”, they simply limited it at software level, and so it found a way. But honestly Claude still feels more impressive to me. Shit, I remember thinking how LLMs will never really do anything besides generate text, but this thing might actually be scary in near future.
