I’m just a random weeb. I love anime, dubstep, science, philosophy, logic and tech all along.

PS: English isn’t my native language, so sorry if I mispell some things, please kindly point it to me.

  • Mastodon, Pleroma, Akkoma, GoToSocial, Misskey, Sharkey…

These are all based in the same protocol that makes this place work: ActivityPub.

While this is the Threadiverse (Lemmy, Mbin, Kbin, PieFed, etc.), these other are the more general Fediverse, although more dedicated to microblogging.

If you want macrobloggin/traditional social media, you have Friendica, Diaspora*, Aarkvard and some other similar ones.

If you want forums, there are some as Discourse or NodeBB.

If you want video, there is PeerTube.

If you want music, there is Funkwhale.

If you want traditional blogging and/or publishing, Plume or WriteFreely.

There are AP-based software for almost all needs, if not all needs.

  • Hell naw, that’s an arbitrary take. There’s no “child things” or “adult things”, nor “male things” or “female things”, just things, and the “male”/“female”/“child”/“adult” is an arbitary tag we put on them.

And even if there are some things that aren’t so good for the child to see, the only correct way to address that is educating them, guiding them, listening to them and, over all, treating them as humans, the “we need to block this to children” is totally adultist.

  • I’m using it with Extera Next myself, and is really good, yeah. Matrix >>> XMPP.

I’d like to see any Nheko Chat fork with better security (I’m in Plasma so I want more stack consistency, also more aestethical consistency), but well, that seems hard to find right now (fuck off Etke.cc, Komai is just shitty slopware).

  • Based.

I think that AI as, for example, a super-summarizer, or a search engine on steroids, is fairly good, but it at least should give ALL the sources that were used, put a big disclaimer, and a huge liability of responsibility, as user SHOULD and MUST be reviewing all sources.

Basically, it should be just a tool to find rather niche, rare, obscure or otherwise buried by SEO sources.

But if you just want it to do all the work for you, then you probably should be automatically disqualified from your educative or public institution.

I’m not saying that it doesn’t exists or that isn’t not a problem in Japan either.

I agree with you, but we should still have our right to fight against it, at least.

Anyways, actually there’s at least a recognized form of fair use: doujinshis, but these are a totally distinct matter, I have to say.

I hope that gets better there.
