Logic isn’t the play. They will say/do anything that gets them what they want. You can’t reason someone out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into in the first place.
No, their “logic” is that a president is eligible for re-election only until they serve two consecutive terms, after which point they are no longer eligible.
They have to create a system that allows Trump to run but won’t allow Obama to run. He couldn’t stand losing to Biden, and he obviously re-lives that loss every day, but he would actually implode if he lost to Obama. And everyone around him seems to have the job of “keep Dear Leader from imploding.”
