The same data source, but you seem to be cherry picking data from specific years and countries to make it fit your story that Germany is not at the lower end of the scale compared to other western-european countries.

Edit: and Finland had a gini of ~25 averaged over the last 5 years.

My data is the most recent, in that case it refers to the years 2024 and 2025.

Finland - whether you’d compare the 2025 Gini or the 5-year average, or any other metric - is among the countries with the lowest inequality in Europe (and, therefore, in the world). Nothing what I do is cherry-picked.

Germany has not higher inequality than its neighbours as you claim. If you insist you’re right and not mistaken, however, just name a source.

I named the source already, you just interpret it differently. Most western European countries with functional governance are closer to 25 than the >30 group that Germany finds itself in.

Germany’s Gini is around the EU average in the long term, in 2023 and 2024, the deviation was even just 0.1 points.

There’s a lot you can say about inequality in Germany, but your arguments don’t make sense. If you look at Gini and many other inequality measures, Germany’s inequality is around the average. This is not a matter of interpretation, that’s a simple fact.

          [Edit typo.]

Germany and France (which has similar inequality issues, but for somewhat different reasons i.e. strong centralisation toward the capital) together drive the average, so saying Germany is average in the EU is like saying water is wet.

My point is that if Germany was a functional state with a ruling elite interested in a healthy wealth distribution the gini coeficcient would be more similar to that of Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland etc. and not like the bottom barrle of bad governance in the EU, like Malta, Italy or (to some extend) France.

Dude, this doesn’t make any sense (one reason being that what you call ‘the bottom battle of governance like Malta and Italy’ are not so far away from the EU average, and much better in global comparison like large economies like the U.S. and China).

You can have this opinion, but you apparently can’t back it with relibale data. It’s just some ‘We are bad’ narrative to drag down Europe or, in this case, Germany as it happens so often here in this comm.

You still don’t understand how averages work?

Germany by its size alone drags down the average towards countries like Malta.

The global comparisons are irrelevant when comparing EU countries. Next you will tell me that compared to North Korea, Germany is super democratic? Well, duh 🙄

Your communication style is on par with the content you provide. What you’re saying makes no sense. You are wrong, dude, but I don’t even pretend to listen. This conversation is waste of time.
