7·5 days agoI will have to try clothes next time. I always start with food/booze production with grain imports. I like being self sufficient on those items but it would be nice to have a higher value export commodity early on

2·16 days agoIf your timeframe is years I would consider investing it somehow. You could even look at state or federal bonds for lower risk/lower tax on interest (assuming you’re in the US)
Ideally you would want your savings to appreciate at the same rate or higher than home prices, otherwise you are losing ground. But you need to balance the risk too. When you get closer to buying you want to reduce risk, for instance if you’re going to buy within a year or two a high yield savings probably makes more sense.
