  • Some instances have block lists for certain words.

  • The dead, only mostly.

  • I just watched the episode of the Simpsons yesterday where Burns buys all the news outlets in town so that all of the reporting about him is positive. The only paper he doesn't control is Lisa's newspaper, which she eventually has to print on a mimeograph machine, because Burns cuts the power to her house and school. Eventually Burns takes her down by conning Homer into giving dirt on Lisa, but by that time she has inspired everyone else to create their own newspapers that Burns can't control.

  • I did read that her constituents support her over Trump, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

I do hope she was serious when she acknowledged her own role in promoting political violence and does change her ways. But I'm skeptical that it'll stick. We'll see.

  • Yeah, I remember commuting to work in the DC area the days after the attack - and it was so subdued (they did not close our office on the 12th). There was no, or very little aggressive driving - people just going through the motions in shock. That lasted a few days, then we were back to the usual Mad Max.

The night of the 11th I went to pick up a friend that had gone to a coworker's place after the attacks. There was NO ONE out, other than an ambulance or two. It was completely dead out there, so much that I wondered if I was violating some kind of curfew. Just completely empty streets from Alexandria to Ballston. Surreal.

  • Yeah. Also, the Alamo itself (what's left of it) is underwhelming. It's like a 10 minute visit, if I remember correctly.

  • The Alamo. It's a fort in San Antonio, Texas that was under siege by the Mexican army and the troops inside held out for several days. The rallying cry was, "Remember the Alamo."

  • Lol that's amazing. I'll stick with Linux!

  • Yeah, almost two years ago, I bought a 10 tb drive to back up my 15 tb array that I'd built with 3 tb drives in ~2018. That new drive was under $200 then.

  • I want to put permanent ones on our house. Do it once and that's it.

  • I'm not sure most Christians these days are concerned about spotting false idols.

  • Your only hope for survival is to offer a lot of scratches and pets.

  • Yeah, I was like "WTF" for a moment, then I realized. All good!

  • I haven't seen one lately, but there for a while it seemed like I was seeing them about every other month.

  • I'm always amused by the stories about loaded guns being confiscated at airports in people's carry on bags. The one place everyone should know that you cannot take a gun. Inevitably, they say, "I forgot it was in there."

Stories like these don't inspire my belief in safe gun owners. I'm sure they're out there, but so are a lot of idiot gun owners.

  • Oh, yeah. They live for this fantasy. We have an Airstream travel trailer, and there are people in that group that are absolutely certain that someone WILL try to break in sooner or later while they're camping, and they will be Ready For It.

I assume they are the same group of people that end up shooting an innocent person that had their car break down at 2 am and just wanted help, or knocked on the door to what they thought was a friend's house.

It's really disturbing how certain they are that this will happen. Too much Fox News, I assume.

  • Ouch I'm so sorry. Lost a dog that way one time - he slipped his collar and trotted into traffic. :(

  • I think electing him twice should count for something.

  • Mr. Ed was a talking horse in an old TV show. But he'd only talk to one person, Wilbur.
